(23,343 posts)The intelligence community, for one, seem to be - as the Donald Sutherland character in 'JFK' put it - in "a state of make-believe."
National security doesn't even seem to matter much anymore - so long as sacred cattle (certain families, certain defense-related firms, the RW Isreal lobby, etc.) are kept good and coddled.
Cheeto understood that.

(77,323 posts)My take was Oleg Deripaska was paying McConigal which he wouldn't have been doing w/out
Vlad's OK as McConigal was in charge of investigating Russia interfering with the US elections.
I pretty sure that Durham knew that McConigal and part of the NYC FBI's Field Office were "Russian
dirty" and both Durham & Barr have kept that information quite. I would not be surprised if
Durham was "Russian dirty" too. Trump just admitted this AM that Russia did help his campaign
in 2016 but that help did not put him into the White House.
McConigal did get the NYC FBI office to push the Hillary email story late in the 2016 campaign
and got the NY Times to put on their front page "FBI says no evidence of Russian interference
in our elections." And as he brought that off he was being paid off by Deripaska/Vlad.
Yes Trump, his family, and his businesses have been laundering Russian money for years.
However the one thing that Durham was successful @ is that he kept Putin's Alfa Bank Computer connections
to a computer server in Lititiz, PA that was part of the Trump campaign's IT network out of the media. Alfa Bank's
computer had >2,700 link ups to TFG and another 200 to 300 links with Betsy DeVoss' computer server in Michigan
and that brings DeVoss' brother Erik Prince into play. Barr, Muller, Roger Stone, most likely Rudy, and along with
the NY Times were well aware of Alfa Bank's links to Vlad and Trump at different times.
As Speaker Pelosi said to Trump's face, "All roads lead to (Russian President Vladimir) Putin."

(1,532 posts)Deport DjT from this country, which he incited insurrection against, about which he spreads lies about our election system, in which he hoards and mishandles hundreds of our secret documents, and in which he publicly voices his alliances with our country's enemies.
Send him to live in, and be imprisoned by, the fascistic dictatorships he obviously belongs in.
Strip him of American citizenship and ban him from re-entering this country forever!

Or perhaps Trump's abrupt withdrawal from Syria shortly thereafter, ceding U.S. bases to Russia, and leaving our allies there to die.
Justice matters.

Hope I'm wrong, of course... but 25 months after his attempt at overthrowing the US government to install himself dictator, hair furhair is still free to spread hate and incite violence on a daily basis??

(4,413 posts)The moment Trump and his family step out of the jet and onto the tarmac, Putin will have them killed on live TV. They will have served their purpose, and assets no longer of use will be liquidated. It's not like the United States government would retaliate on behalf of a criminal who fled justice. No, it's better for Trump to flee to a country that is warm, has golf, plenty of young women to ogle on the beach, and no extradition treaty with the US, like the UAE.

(11,767 posts)Just wondering. Trump has never been loyal to anything in the world except to Trump. He isn't loyal to Putin. Putin is just the adversary of the people who are currently closing in on Trump for his crimes. Therefore, Trump will side with whoever he thinks will help him. Putin would not piss on Trump if Trump were on fire, unless it gave Putin some advantage.
It must be a miserable life. I have people in my life, that I know I can count on, and they know they can count on me. I don't have to trick anyone or hold them over a barrel to get them to do something for me. I have built a network of relationships on trust, confidence, loyalty, and integrity.
We've all known that Trump is disloyal. He says America First and Make America Great Again, but all he wants to to enrich Donald Trump.

(41,634 posts)Whether or not he gets a prison sentence ... well that remains to be seen. It's possible that a federal judge may sentence him to house arrest with an electronic cuff, I don't know. As long as Chump gets convicted of high crimes in office - he'll never be able to run for anything again. The appeals process will drag it all out, of course.
