It's official: Nikki Haley running for president. Formal announcement Feb. 15

Cementing what has been in the works for months, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley will formally announce she is running for president and will seek the Republican nomination for her party’s 2024 ticket, The Post and Courier has learned.

According to an invitation soon going out to her backers, Haley’s advertised “special announcement” will come Feb. 15 at the The Shed at the Charleston Visitor Center in downtown Charleston, an open air but covered gathering spot that could draw hundreds of supporters into the heart of the city’s tourism district.

The confirmation she entering the race came from a member of Haley’s inner circle Jan. 31.

Haley has teased at running for the White House for months, increasing her footprint on social media and in national interviews that she was leaning toward an official bid.

Long identified as harboring presidential intentions for the past decade, she becomes the second announced profile Republican looking to knock off Democratic President Joe Biden next year, just behind her former boss from when she was U.N. ambassador, previous White House occupant Donald Trump.

Haley famously said earlier she would not seek to challenge Trump if he ran again, but her message has since shifted to say the country needs to look toward a different path.

Is either misogynistic ( a woman couldn't beat him) or she's doing it for exposure and will be his running mate. Although he did have to throw in that "she said if I ran, she wouldn't"

No one, not even a Mother Teresa type could make him look normal.

Right wing troll, Jack Posobiec, and a bunch of other wing nutjobs were already at it last night on Twitter. Republicans aren't going to vote for a woman at the top of the ticket. They just want them as an attractive side piece.

I’m sure there will be more. Possibly Pence. And for Trump, the more the merrier.
If 4-5 gain stay somewhat viable about halfway through the primaries, Trump can win the nomination with about 30% of the GOP electorate.

DFT aside, most candidates for the Presidency have to have a camera-friendly look, and Bolton doesn't. His looks worsen when you know what a hate-filled monster he is.

My father-in-law's sweetness softened his less-than-stellar looks.

Rushing head long to run against an incumbent isn't as attractive as running for an open seat.

I think W Bush did more damage than even Trump. We're still paying for all of his wars based on lies. I do not want no-fly-zones over Syria, like the neo-cons proposed in the 2016 debates.

is "too brown" and "too foreign" for at least 50% of the "base", and besides, she's a woman, and you know what they said about Hillary when she ran. So no. Maybe they'll think about letting her run as a V/P candidate. Nice "token" ya got there, Repugs. But she's not white enough to satisfy them as a presidential candidate, and that's the sad truth of it.
