"SNIP.......
Mother Jones: According to Santos campaign filings with the Federal Election Commission, his recent campaign pulled in more than $45,000 from relatives who lived in Queens. This included a mail handler who gave more than $4,000, a painter who donated the maximum of $5,800, and a student who also contributed $5,800. One of Santos relatives, who was recorded as giving $5,800, says that they did not make any donation to Santos.
Said one Santos relative: Im dumbfounded.. Its all news to me. I dont have that money to throw around!
.......SNIP"

(10,252 posts)Those particular lies, falsifying FEC documents, will get his ass in prison. Hope the DOJ discovers where the money came from.

(19,204 posts)keep everything under wraps. Exposing one Russian bad apple would bring attention to an entire tree full of Russian bad apples.
The GRP is going to have to do everything within its power to keep this from going into full-scale meltdown.

The GOP is literally FLOODED with dirty Russian money.

(53,826 posts)from his committees. This is the beginning of the end for Santos as rep. as it appears he's committed substantial campaign non-disclosure violations.
Santos is ambitious but not that smart. All the false donor claims, in fact his entire life details are false claims and he thought no one would check, that no one would finally vet him.
He was wrong. All the lies finally caught up with him.

(14,821 posts)He won't be forced to resign until his first day in prison. Even then, they may let him vote by proxy.
The new gop standard.

(8,287 posts)She and I were contractors assigned to this international manufacturing company and applied for two openings for permanent positions. Background checks were done and I never saw her again. The contractor fired her too. She said she had a college degree but didnt.
Gone.
So our government has lower ethics than a private company? Whoa.

(53,826 posts)in his life, he was bound to be found out at some point. It looks like McCarthy finally figured out how to ease him out while at the same time keep his vote for as long as he can.
As you said, McCarthy's standards are lower than the private sector. I remember once at my old newspaper job, a co-worker was fired and two of the biggest security guards I've ever seen came and escorted him out by the arm...both of his feet were actually off the floor as they showed him the door.

(8,287 posts)is a fraud. They haven't found if he ever went to college. Did he ever finish high school?
the lies are fraudulent and the voters were not voting for this clown, they voted for a Goldman Sax employee. And college grad with an MBA. This guy should resign. McCarthy should force him out.
He still has the votes for speaker so what's the delay? Because McCarthy is a coward.
brush
(53,826 posts)which is why McCarthy is easing him aside.

(33,367 posts)Or through Oligarch-adjacent "Investor" Andrew Intrader, although that dude is making it sound like he's a victim.
Regardless, it was a well-organized scheme. He didn't do it by his lonesome.

(81,425 posts)Oligarch-adjacent "Investor" -
The image that conjures up in the mind: oligarch-adjacent! DAYUM!
Wording like that conjures up IMAGING. And imaging is a muscular power as a way to strengthen and enhance an idea or quest or mission or dream or plan or endeavor or strategy. I read a long time ago that a majority - indeed, most Americans process information VISUALLY. So ANYTHING that suggests or provokes some sort of idea VISUALLY, is likely to get stronger and more powerful as a manifestor and motivator. Its also rendered easier to remember, thus adding to its power - and potential impact.
Ive read a lot about the power of the mind and positive thinking, and SOOOOOOOOooooo many times, picturing what you want, in your mind, makes it easier to refine and define goals. Provides a good hook to keep you focused. And that enhances the probability that youll succeed in one way or the other, in whatever quest or project or intention or goal you have.

(1,817 posts)I hope that Stefanik is questioned.
She campaigned for him hard. Even had a fund raiser for him.
Did she know he was a fraud and did not care?
Or was she fooled by him.
Either scenario is not ideal for her.
I'm wondering if somebody is looking at her campaign finances.

(10,066 posts)other GOP campaigns, not sure who. Also the treasurer he had, has now resurfaced and she is a treasurer for many other republican candidates. I would hope that the DOJ will be investigating her ties with others and whether they too had an influx of cash that is fraudulently reported. I would love nothing more than Stefanick be caught up in this and the time has come that an audit of every republican candidate, for whatever office, be done. This is beyond ridiculous.

(70,559 posts)He is no doubt Russian paid to be a to be a CHAOS AGENT.
I saw this on the internet so take it worth a grain of salt about Deripaska.
Tony DeVolder is doing exactly what the Russians and no doubt certain people on the right
such as the Mercers/Rupert/??? and that is to stir up shit. His telling huge lies such as he
was a volleyball star (he is short and fat not volleyball material or he was hanging out with
Chuck Schumer's mom talking shit about Chuck.
DeVolder is just like Trump he was installed to cause problems in America. I hope the DoJ
picks him and his cell phones and computer history ASAP.

Seems obvious but I have not seen a family tree (yet) on the internet.

(19,204 posts)I know you can look at people in your own family tree and contact them (but only if they've approved that in their account preferences), but I'm not sure you can search other people's family trees.
They guard that information fairly well, unless law enforcement wants a peek, then they open up the front door and invite them in. 😉

(8,813 posts)at least 15 years or so but have not.
Floors me how an individual can lie his way into a House seat (in suburban NYC no less) and now no one claims to know anything about the guy.
Here is another test for the DOJ. Heck maybe no institution has jurisdiction for all I know?
SergeStorms
(19,204 posts)I don't know why really, because our family tree has been researched back before the middle of the 17th century. We did find out our DNA was originally Scandinavian on my father's side, which we didn't know, so that was interesting.
All the members of the family who became Ancestry members were on the tree. Nice to know we're actually related, because I had some doubts about a few.
I've never tried looking up someone else's family tree, but I don't think they'd allow it without permission from that family, and even then only in a limited capacity.
So there you have it. Just about everything I know about Ancestry.com.

(1,654 posts)Donors researched as much because they aren't as out there with the fraudulent donations. He has been such an obvious fraud with the "self funding loans" that the questions even down to the smaller donors being fraudulent were almost a certainty and coming faster than for more seasoned politicians. A mail handler giving more than $4,000? Really fishy. $50 maybe, but $4,000?
He probably to break up a lot of that money coming from Russia and just reached in for names and occupations and assumed that the investigation would never reach down that far.
