@AOC defends Rep. @Ilhan Omar: "Don't tell me this is about consistency. Don't tell me that this is about a condemnation of anti-Semitic remarks...This is about targeting women of color in the United States of America."

(14,075 posts)she is right that its not about anti-semitic remarks.
it simple revenge and use of power against someone they dont like and have a grudge against.
they are petty assholes. its a petty power move.
they dont like her because she is black, female, immigrant and muslim who is also happens to be very smart and attractive.
they hate her because she is a democrat and has a liberal ideology.

(82,849 posts)There's a reason they're not targeting, say, Earl Blumenauer. I can hazard a wild guess why they're targeting Omar.

(14,075 posts)is always forgiven and protected until they do something that starts to damage the party.
Their real hatred is reserved for their political opposition.
How about Herschel. Pretty much everything they supposedly dislike but they held their noses and smiled.

I wish I was Omar. I'd be calling them out.
But I guess she's been instructed to not say anything about that

(17,374 posts)petty assholes and about petty power moves, but the clearly target women of color in particular so its especially virulent when women who are not white, and particularly women who are not white Christians, are involved.

(9,912 posts)ELEVATES women and men of color in every quarter. Liberals actually believe that "all people are created equal", and they live by that, and try to govern by that, which makes republicans' tiny, mostly-empty heads explode.

(38,711 posts)Happened to HRC in 2016, too, when she had the temerity to suggest at AIPAC that the Settler Policy was counterproductive.
Omar went further.

(26,008 posts)would agree with that statement in regard to the settlement policy. One that I don't know personally, but I've read one of his books, is George Soros, whom Republicans love to hate. Soros has criticized Israeli politics with the accusation of treating Palestinians as badly as Israelis were treated in other parts of the world.
I fully support Israel's right as a nation to defend itself against attacks and terrorism, but many of their policies and actions are excessive, which is what Soros was pointing out.

(706 posts)And my father's livelihood depended on Israel continuing as a sovereign state. Dad ran North America for Zim Lines in the '70s and early '80s. I grew up in a pro-Israeli state house, but my Dad didn't agree with the settlements. Only spoke about it at home, though. He wasn't a fool.

(1,527 posts)So let me get this straight, criticizing the Israel government for legit reasons is anti-Semite, so does that mean, if we criticize say Saudi Arabia, that makes us anti-Arab? Mind you that the term "Semite" originally meant any of several ethnic groups which included, in addition to Hebrews and Jews, Assyrians, Ethopians, Babylonians, and Arabs as well. Hebrew, Arab, and Amharic are in the same Semitic branch of languages, albeit in different sub-branches. Either way, discounting all that, it's petty revenge. But let's get one thing clear, this is a pathetic backlash against what they see as a loss of power on their end, specifically to the people that are WASP (White, Anglo-Saxon Protestant). In many ways, we have not gotten past that even after the Civil rights era. They are afraid of losing power, and because other people of color/non-Christian religions have gained momentum over the last 50 or so years, they are angry about losing hegemony.
