Lilly Endowment funding a survey of Roman Catholics

In the next few weeks Roman Catholics across the nation will be asked to complete a 10 to 15 minute survey referred to as the Disciple Maker Index. This survey was developed by the Catholic Leadership Institute in 2013 with the guidance and input of bishops and priests, and the expertise of professional survey teams. It is an anonymous survey of parishioners designed to provide insight into important aspects of the Roman Catholic Faith including the level of discipleship in the parishes, the effectiveness of the Roman Catholic Mass experience, preaching as well as other aspects of parish life.

This survey is being funded by a "generous" donation from the Lilly Endowment. Its funding of projects related to religion is unusually large among foundations. It has given to politically and religiously conservative causes including the American Enterprise Institute, the Hudson Institute, the Federalist Society, the Pacific Research Institute (a California-based free-market think tank that has opposed government health care interventions) and organized climate change denial efforts.

So, I suppose a predominately conservative religion accepting money from a conservative philanthropic organization is only to be expected but I can't help wondering if there might be some underlying (deep state like) agenda to push the Roman Catholic Church in the United States toward a more Christian Nationalist position. I know I won't be filling out their survey.

My answers would be so far to the extreme that they would have an effect on the total results. Which extreme would I choose? That depends on my mood at the time. 😜

...but they learned quickly to always let political leaders take point position. The Church can then maintain culpable/plausible deniability while simultaneously pulling strings and influencing the populous.
