So even though he refused to get vaccinated, and supported Anti-Semitic beliefs, the Nets fans cheered him on.
But last night, after he expressed a desire to be traded, they decided that was a bridge too far, and they booed him.
I guess everybody has their limits. Disgusting how some people can support an Asshole, when they have a talent playing a sport.
In D.C., the hero is Alexander Ovechkin, an outspoken supporter of Putin.

(76,951 posts)The Mavericks are at 102.8% of listed capacity this year & last. An average of >19,700 per home game.
They literally can't sell more tickets.
I don't get the trade either, but it's not about increasing revenue.

(76,951 posts)I'm not sure this Irving move is their last. One thing it did do was keep Irving away from the Lakers or Sun's, though.

(76,951 posts)Your post has nothing to do with mine.
I replied to a post about selling more tickets. Other revenue streams were not included.
Besides, the network money (the biggest slice) & local rights are fixed on long term deals. Getting one player doesn't change that revenue.
So your point, while off topic, also makes minimal sense

(21,966 posts)That's just how it is with lots of sports fans, I don't think many agreed with his crazy views. I remember when Barry Bonds was hated in the mid-2000's. Everywhere he went he got booed, except from San Francisco Giants fans.

(21,966 posts)Steroids? Sure, but he was 39 years old producing numbers not seen since Ruth. No one else that age ever came close, steroids or not. A-Rod on the juice at age 36 and 37 hit .265 with 25 homeruns, which is 12 for every 162 games. Pathetic. Bonds was otherworldly.

(26,330 posts)The idea Hall of Fame voters know who is "clean" versus on drugs seems hopeless and self serving. The idea that the team that beat Bonds in the world series was filled with 25 good clean guys is amusing to no end. The idea NOW all major sports are "clean" as opposed to that tainted 90s era is an illusion to ease rabid sports fans.
And of course, steroid and other performance enhancing drug use in sports started long before the 90s...

If the addition of a particular bad seed creates additional profit/revenue, I just assume the 1% will, all other things being equal, base every decision on profit-analysis at the expense of ethical leadership/stewardship.
Or to truncate Fitzgerald, They were careless people... they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money... and let other people clean up the mess they had made.
