The spread of commerce and the spread of conquest/colonialism is the main cause of these millions of deaths.

wherever we go. The more mobile and exploratory we are, the farther diseases can travel as well.

I didn't realize they were also tracking epidemics. In many ways the terrible pandemics are much scarier.

2 million dead. Per Biraben's estimate, Japan only had around 5 million prople!
The Antoine killed 5-10 million and around 150 million people worldwide. 5% of the population of earth when world travel was next to nothing. Makes the Black Death seem minor.
