"One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back."

and hope. He had a gentle way of reminding a kid in his formative teen years that humans have come so far and done so much together.

He quietly prodded me into realizing that every problem created by humans can be solved by humans... if the will is there, and if instead of standing face to face to confront, we stand shoulder to shoulder to overcome.

He touched you early in life and he captured my attention when I was a little older. I religiously watched his PBS Cosmos series n taped every episode.. nothing would get considered during his time slot! I have a couple of his books but his lessons on tv were easily understood as he had a way of explaining the universe so we could all understand and want to know more. Every once in a while I go to Utube n watch his Pale Blue Dot w/ Pink Floyd’s the Turning Away n I’m once again contemplating the billions n billions of star stuff. I just admired him immensely.
