to back up their claims that he had been resisting.
They had already either TURNED OFF or REMOVED their body cameras, so they were counting on their not being a video record.
They weren't counting on the civilian hero who recorded at least part of the attack, or the street camera that also produced footage.

(47,116 posts)It was too well orchestrated and planned in advance.
The 911 team knew to hold back.
Trophy pictures sent afterwards.
They loved doing this and were proud of themselves.

(17,863 posts)interactions with the public. Any cop that turned his camera off or wasn't wearing it should go on the Brady list as a minimum (should be fired if possible).

Should have been 1st Degree.

(17,863 posts)This is getting towards 1st degree. There definitely is a motive still to be revealed. They need to have automatic suspensions for failure to activate cameras at a minimum. In this case it had to be premeditated.

(47,116 posts)There needs to be an independent investigation to determine
if any of these LE officers knew Tyre before the incident.
Or perhaps they were on the hunt at the beginning of the shift for an innocent victim.

(17,863 posts)No dash cam of the initial stop. Only "evidence" is the word of compromised individuals. Why did the cop with the Taser think it was a felony stop - he still had his camera on so I wonder if he didn't just roll up to the scene and wasn't part of the premeditation.

grumpyduck
(6,240 posts)that a connection had been found between Tyre and the ex-wife or girl friend of one of the cops. I don't know if anyone has followed up on that.

(47,116 posts)So Tyre was possibly targeted ahead of time, followed and murdered.
The fact it was so public means the squad was teaching others a lesson.

(17,863 posts)Still maybe they didn't know either. It can be a problem in the civil suit against the city if they weren't acting as officers (systemic problem with the police force) but motivated by revenge/teaching him a lesson. The Civil Rights Lawyer explains it pretty well in the case of a prisoner getting punched by a LEO while in the station. It is best for the family in seeking a judgment for this to be SOP for these cops.
