Banning books, re-writing history, denying atrocities

In a parallel universe, I would be banned from reading books on a topic that fascinates me; Holocaust denial. Not because I wish to learn how to deny the holocaust. It happened; not that long before I was born in the UK and grew up in a community of veterans, displaced persons and folk who couldn't let the ration-book mentality go.

Oh, it happened alright. I needed to look up the origins of holocaust denial to understand how it took hold. It was the bloody Nazis themselves! From their bizarre euphemisms - re-settlement, work camp - to the blatantly overt actions of attempting to destroy all evidence of Treblinka, the Auschwitz crematoriams and gas chambers and many more examples of proof of genocide. The Nazis started Holocaust denial, the bastards.

David Irving, Ernst Zundel and a few others are but wan and pale reflections of the original Nazis. Ron De Santis is pretty much equivalent to these sad fuckers. Why does he think people read? Its not always to find a blinkered thought to follow. Reading presents not only two sides to a story but an additional thousand shades of grey that the reasonable and thinking person (evolved?) will attempt to consider before they commit themself to a position. Reading helps people come to the truth.

When you think of the larger than life figures that came before De Santis, he looks a bit puny and ineffective. He is no Himmler or Heydrich; more like a less superficially likeable Fred Leuchter.

The flip side of Denial is Proof of Holocaust. Just as the deniers made laughing stocks of themselves with their outlandish and pained theories, a number of professional people are currently working just as dilligently to provide a modern, scientific set of proofs that will shut the deniers up. They are much more interesting and believable people than the deniers.

Caroline Sturdy Colls is a British conflict archaeologist. She has investigated Treblinka, Belsen - other sites. Fascinating person. Prof. Sue Black is a pathologist identifying genocide victims. Robert Jan van Pelt is the architect in the video below. Creator of 'The Evidence Room', witness in trial of David Irving.
