The United States has NEVER dealt with the issues of White Supremacy and class warfare throughout our history. We admire wealthy and powerful people who we see as "titans of industry", when their motivation was simply greed for power, wealth, and influence, and who were able to enlist through need, the talent and hard work of millions of others including slaves and immigrants.

America, as a nation, economically benefited from slavery and the exploitation of immigrants, but has never fully acknowledged that and there is an entire political party and ideological movement (Conservatism) that has staked their identities and power on NOT acknowledging those facts. They continue to promote White Supremacy and Carlson is currently one of their most influential spokespersons for that.

People in general, do not like to feel discomfort. We have all been told and taught, that "America is special" that we are somehow better than all other countries because we threw of the tyranny of monarchy, and said, "All men are created equal". Yet we were one of the last countries to abolish slavery and one of the last powerful nations to give women the right to vote.

Carlson represents "the voice" that gives comfort to people who are still uncomfortable with Black and Brown people, and women having any say in our society. He represents their desire to go back to a "simpler time", which basically means a time when it was more acceptable to openly hate, and oppress People of color and women.

We have to face up to, and understand that there are A LOT of people who are openly racist and sexist, and homophobic, transphobic, and hate anything that does not prop up a White Heterosexual, Christian male power structure. And unfortunately there are more, who feel some level of discomfort but are not overtly open to the above.

He thinks, or at least is getting paid to promote (because it has been reported that he actually holds beliefs not consistent with his on-air persona, which is way worse in my opinion) the idea that the United States has fallen into "degeneracy" (a common term used by Carlson and White Supremacists). Carlson has sided with dictators like Putin and Orban (from Hungary) who push a hard line, right wing, White Supremacist point of view. He thinks, or is paid to promote to his audience, that Russia, Hungary, and other right wing movements are "defenders of Whiteness" now that America has gone woke.

If what is said about him and his real views is accurate, then he is even worse than his persona. To be so craven and driven by money and power that you would promote things against your own beliefs, that to me, is worse than someone who actually believes in something because of ignorance, tradition, etc...
