I love Joe Biden, and am excited about him running for a second term

and feel a bit scornful to those suggesting he's not running, or that he shouldn't run.

He has already been, with little argument, one of the most effective presidents in our nation's history.

He not only has earned my respect, he deserves my support.

I'm ridin' with Biden.

And he's just halfway through is first term. And I like Biden. But I worry that 2 additional years when your 80 (and POTUS) is not like 2 years when your 65. Or even 70. And then add 4 more years to that. I think it's unrealistic to think that someone in their mid-80's can meet the rigors of being president.

I get he's in great shape. But to serve another term, he's got the next 2 years and what will be a very demanding reelection campaign. Both will be physically and mentally tough.

My parents and in-laws and relatives and their friends (those who are still alive) are all in their late 70's and early 80's. Some can still ride a bike 40-50 miles, others can barely walk across the room. But to a person, none of them are physically or mentally what they were even 2 years ago. The spry 80 year old is a rarity. And even their margin of error is small.

I would prefer that Biden spend the next 2 years finishing the greatest 1 term presidency in our country's history andhelping his successor get elected.

I think that would really set his legacy.

Or 4?

My point is that we can't expect Biden to continue at this level. I know that he wants to. Who wouldn't. But is it realistic? My experience tells me it isn't.

While the State of the Union was on, my daughter asked me how the State of the Union was going? I responded, "We're winning."

He blew the GOP away last night, he was the master. And they're still going to underestimate him.

Best president of my lifetime and an amazing politician too.

What he did tp the GOP last night boxed them in and left them stunned and scrambling for a coherent response. It was a masterclass for all time in US politics.

There is zero indication his age has been an impediment to his leadership in any way. No objective arguments are made in this regard, for the most part they are just editorial and anecdote, followed by a list of vague "what ifs."

All things being equal, I tend to think the negative 'concerns' voiced over it is nothing more than a new paint job on an old beater.
