According to Meidas Touch, the DOJ has surprised with this decision. "Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it."

The Gang of Eight is composed of the top Democrats and Republicans in the House and Senate, including the leaders of the Senate and House Intelligence Committees.

According to Ben Meiselas of MeidasTouchNetwork, such a disclosure usually leads to charges.

This is an interesting development in the Mar-a-Lago stolen documents case.

(NewsNation) — Leaders from both parties and in both chambers of Congress will receive a private, classified briefing this week about China and the balloon that was shot down off the Carolina coast, Capitol Hill sources told NewsNation.

The “Gang of Eight” consists of Republican and Democratic leaders of the House and Senate on the intelligence committees of the two chambers: Sen. Chuck Schumer, Sen. Mitch McConnell, Sen. Marco Rubio, Sen. Mark Warner, Speaker Kevin McCarthy, Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Rep. Jim Himes and Rep. Mike Turner.

McCarthy requested the meeting on Feb. 2.

“China’s brazen disregard for U.S. sovereignty is a destabilizing action that must be addressed, and President Biden cannot be silent,” McCarthy shared on Twitter. “I am requesting a Gang of Eight briefing.”

How and why does giving third parties evidence, potentially of wrongdoing, prior to indictment mean anything except whatever fruits may be had by prematurely showing one's handful of evidence to the general public*. Heretofore, when the Republicans have foreknowledge of treason on TFG's part it's been used to think-tank their denial strategies.

Is this to mean that when it comes to a case of national security, the DOJ consults with the leaders of the legislature before resuming their path? Or to perhaps change their path based on the reception they receive from the "gang of eight"? I'm afraid some on that list are not trustworthy. Surely, we do not presume that due to their lofty titles some of these guys are complicit in ongoing treason already.

There are some pieces missing in this logic kaleidoscope.
