Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsInspired by a thread yesterday, I looked up the American Library Association's most banned books
The ALA has several lists of most banned or challenged books.
They've got an annual list of the 10 most banned/challenged, with 2021 being the latest:
https://www.ala.org/advocacy/bbooks/frequentlychallengedbooks/top10
And they've got a top 100 by decade, with the 2010s being the latest:
https://www.ala.org/advocacy/bbooks/frequentlychallengedbooks/decade2019
Because the list is compiled from media reports and voluntary reporting from libraries to the association, they estimate that their list only captures about 1/10th of the challenges/banning attempts that actually occur.
Looking at the latest lists, it's clear I've been slacking in my subversiveness. I'm 0/10 on the 2021 list and 15/100 on the 2010s list.
