(23,362 posts)Or maybe it's "The Farts" that don't reach the other chamber.
Anyway, I'd bet Santos' seat is seccre. No Republicans will vote to oust him, even though a few might like to see him gone.
They dont want to lose that R.

(297,503 posts)course Kev & Howlers can't lose GS' stupid vote.. But at least it's on Record by a Dem!
I'm guessing this kind of thing doesn't happen that often.

(14,818 posts)Is this one of those privelaged resolutions or does it have to wind its way through committees?

(10,130 posts)Gets them on the record.
It's an obvious disgrace.
No way Santos would have lasted this long decades ago.

(3,524 posts)to resign. We need to make sure those Republicans follow through.
In particular, all of the NY GQP Freshmen in the house (there are six, I believe) need to be held to account.
If they do NOT vote him out, then we hold their feet to the fire. Especially NY State Republican members. I believe they are united in calling for him to step down.

(3,524 posts)as another poster mentioned, the threshold is 67%, not 50%, so it will take a lot more than 6 honest GQPers. That's way too many, of course.
Note that I agree and understand that saying and doing are two entirely different things.
Mr.Bill
(24,312 posts)It requires two-thirds of the vote. Otherwise, the majority would just expel the entire other party.

(32,709 posts)If they make all the votes public (like they normally do) then the Repukes will all stand together.

(27,820 posts)I want Santos gone. I do think, though, that Santos is suffering some form of mental illness and could benefit from treatment.
Instead of enthusiastically endorsing him, New York Republicans should have vetted him (maybe read the news article a local paper did on him). And the voters failed in their obligation, too. Yes, there are times I depend on endorsements, but I use them as a starting point, and I don't only rely on them. Somewhere, someone failed.
