(32,599 posts)Another Profile in Courage guy. But why not? He's running in 2024, so maybe he wants to help sideline Donald...but still wants to tell his Republican voters that he had no choice,

(5,455 posts)That Garland could have done this instead of MONTHS of "negotiations"?

(26,507 posts)What could Pence's lawyers negotiate about?
The subject area they are investigating? The type of questions they could ask Pence?
I didn't think the person subpoenaed could negotiate terms of the subpoena.
Any thoughts?

(5,455 posts)But I don't have an answer. Just wondered why he wasn't even asked to testify under oath at the Jan. 6 Congressiinal hearing.

(94,667 posts)...what is Pence refusing to do or tell them that DOJ has to subpoena him about?

(43,348 posts)likely have to confirm or deny previous testimony by his counsel and staff, and what the DOJ would do about his failure to confirm anything they already had evidence and testimony of.
Without his lawyers, he might still be going in with a pretty good idea of what the grand jury will ask, imo.

(43,348 posts)Not immediately clear, but with some digging we find out that they can ask Pence about
-- Eastman's pressures on him on days right before Jan 6
-- Trump's phone calls to him before Jan 6
-- what did he repeatedly call Trump about on Jan 6
-- what did Pence know that caused him to refuse to get into the limo with Secret Service on Jan 6
-- what communications did he have with the WH on Jan 6
-- who texted and/or called him from Nov 2020 to Jan 6 2021
There are two criminal grand juries working with Special Counsel right now. He'll be appearing before the one that handles the Jan 6 insurrection; fake electors scheme; Trump intimidation of state leaders in GA; all direct comms with everyone of Trump's circle, and direct witness to all of what Trump said and did, day by day, from before Nov 2020 through Jan 6 2021. He'll be in there for a long while, imo.
He'll provide more connections and give confirmation and credence to all previous inner circle grand jury testimony.
He's a conservative christian so he'll have to swear to tell the truth, whole truth and nothing but the truth without Mother present.
