Yowza — McConnell, to KY radio guy Terry Meiners, absolutely knifes Rick Scott on his 12-point plan:

“This is a bad idea. I think it will be a challenge for him to deal with this in his own reelection in Florida, a state with more elderly people than any other state in America.”

From that same interview:

“Speaker McCarthy said Social Security and Medicare are not to be touched and I’ve said the same. And I think we’re in a more authoritative position to state what the position of the party is than any single senator.”

He's angry with Rick Scott because Scott tried to seize that Minority Leader position. Scott and all those who supported him have been publicly punished. Check those committees

Between and Turtle and the Lizard, put me on Team Turtle.

McConnell might be a reactionary (even bigoted) power hog - but at least he's not a felonious (possibly even murderous) sociopath like Scott.

Too many post photos of cute painted turtles. Mitch is a wiley, quick, devious, carnivorous snapping turtle who will sneak up on his victim as stealthy as a floating twig and snap its head off in one lightning strike. He thrives in mud.

He thinks it cost him the Senate in 20 and 22... it was useful until it wasn't. 24 is a promising senate cycle for GOP with Democrats playing defense in places like MT, WV, AZ... Mitch is hell bent on getting his power back. Oh and didn't Rick Scott challenge him for Minority Leader?

During the SOTU when Joe mentioned Mitch and the cameras showed him briefly, sitting so still he could have been dead except for that little gulp he took at the beginning of his shot.

Mitch is done with the magats and so is Joe, and they have known each other for decades and share camaraderie as brothers of the Senate... that's a strong fraternity regardless of party, or it used to be and they both recall those times. So I suspect that somewhere in the cloakroom-like alcoves somewhere the two of them are in a pact to rid the federal government of them. I suspect a serious purge is coming and it won't be pretty. I am sure there are points where Mitch and Joe won't agree but I think they are in agreement, somehow, to get rid of the magats.

But there’s plenty of Republicans ready to serve their corporate overlord’s thirst for more money in their own pockets.

He just knows that you cannot say what republican policies are out loud. He wants to do it in secret and then blame the democrats.

"Mitch McConnell made the unusual choice to bring up his past support for privatizing Social Security. In a speech before the Louisville Rotary Club, McConnell recalled how hard he worked to get then-President George W. Bush’s plan through Congress in 2005."
