That happened in 2008, I think it was Michigan? They moved their primary out of their agreed-upon slot, so the DNC didn't count their delegates. It was part of the grievance that the PUMAs had because Hillary won the primary - although everyone knew it wouldn't count beforehand.

if a state goes too early, as NH is threatening to do, the DNC forbids candidates from campaigning in that state.

You’ll find that there are actually hundreds of people who register as Democratic Presidential candidates. Additionally, New Hampshire only requires paying a fee to get on the Primary ballot.
