Why was China allowed to purchase land in the US?

When I was a kid in the 1950,s no foreign country was allowed to own American assets for a damn good reason. Re the balloon flying over the US defense systems. China now owns property in several states. You really think China will allow American business located in China as they are now to produce an item needed in our defense? Just how stupid can one get? Business has no morals, it is a thing not concerned with human life only profit. I think it is time to get the business community under control for the benefit of the average citizen instead of allowing it to endanger our very defense for profit as they presently do with products that have killed and harmed people. You hear day after day of products harming the common man. Can someone find out who the business community is that is involved in China and list them so we know. Business owns you, are you going to just take it in the shorts and maybe lose your country?

alfalfa to feed cows back home. Alfalfa is a water intense crop. It really should only be grown in places like parts of the midwest where the water table is high. Yet these states have sold land in extremely arid regions to Saudi firms. There really should be laws against this.

hard to believe they can't grow it there - and wouldn't have the shipping costs.

Labor is so much cheaper that it's cheaper to make things there and ship them all the way across the Pacific to the US.

Back then, it was their owning of banks. Before that in the 70s, it was the “AY-rabs.” And that right there was part of the problem. You can’t even begin to do something about it without getting into bed with the bigots who just plain hate the chinese or the arabs.

are in the middle of draughts, where the local peoples wells have run dry, to foreign investors who are using huge amounts of water to grown extremely water intensive crops that are then exported to their home countries to feed animals that are high resource "crops" themselves. And they can do all of this because they are fabulously wealthy and the people who live in these areas are very, very, poor. It has nothing to do with race and everything to do with wealth winning as usual.
