It's a DU fundraiser. If you make a donation you get a certain number of hearts and can "give" them WhiskeyGrinder Feb 2023 #3

I lurked on this site for a long time before I became a star member, and this is my first time participating. If you donate to DU at this time, like the week before Valentine’s Day(?) you get a heart for every dollar you give, and then the site lets you click on a post to give a heart to the person posting. It keeps track of how many hearts you have left.

I’m really having fun with it this year!

It’s a great way to acknowledge the effort folks make to provide content here.

1) raise money to keep then lights on.

2) spread the love around.

Myself all other years, except this one, i gave hearts to those i felt closer to on the site as well as give to those who find themselves with few. To spread the love around. Over the last couple years i have given hearts to my mom who died in 2020.

This year i cant do that because my subscription renewed earlier than the fundraiser and i can’t spare more at this time.

Here are a bunch of my own for all who make this a great community!

The hearts are nice, I guess.

But I'd rather have a star next to my name than 50 hearts underneath it.

I was shy about it myself for so long!

Really like your handle. Walking in the woods is very much my thing.
