I just recently met my new neighbor

We got to talking about my solar panels. He asked if I was part of the grid or have a battery system. Given where I live we have to be part of the system. If we were to have batteries, it would be all on us. They is no “hybrid” system between us and the city. It’s one or the other. I mentioned that I thought about the Tesla battery years ago but chose not to. He then said that he worked for Tesla and I bit my tongue. He went on to say that Tesla offers their employees all sorts of discounts a rebates on their products. I nodded politely but then something changed in his demeanor. He kind of shifted his eyes back and forth and said, “I wold never buy one of their cars”. I paused glanced in his driveway; a Toyota. I responded, “really?” Slightly dumbfounded that here is this QC worker for Tesla saying this. He kind of pursed his lips and said “yup” with so much more behind it.

I’ll just leave this here and let you decide

I have a set up where I have panels, batteries and operate in grid mode. When I generate surplus power it is sold back to electric company (for a pittance) and if grid goes down I immediately revert to off grid. It’s only happened once where the electricity went our for about 3 minutes. I experienced a flicker of lights and tv and then everything stayed on and I was notified on my phone that I was operating off grid. Several mins later I was reconnected to grid.

I bought the Tesla power walls a year prior to Musk going all publicly repug-nuts. I like the look of Tesla cars but now wouldn’t ever buy one.

I'd be interested in knowing if he feels that way because of the car or the man or both.

I didn’t want to press him further. He seems like a good guy and will probably run into him again. I’ll let it play out until he feels mor comfortable speaking about it.

Given muskys paranoid ego, I would think anyone at teslas would be hesitant to say a nothing bad about the company

He likes Musk and is happy to work for Tesla, but on the other hand thinks EV's are for liberals. Just a guess.

After talking with him for a bit, he most certainly isn’t a fan of the orange asshole, that’s for sure. I think he’s a smart guy that got the job at Tesla years ago after falling for muskys brand of bullshit and now with the whole Twitter mess, the scales fell from his eyes.
