(17,548 posts)And now she is an independent. A little less than two long years before we (hopefully) will be rid of this attention-seeking, unethical, grifting opportunist who cares nothing about the people who voted for heronly herself. It's infuriating.

(250 posts)....but there is a flip side to that as well. We can't take her out in the primary anymore. Running as an independent, she has a free pass to the general election. She won't win in the general, but she might draw off enough D votes to hand the seat to the R. That isn't a done deal, but it is a realistic fear for us.

(333 posts)her outer space getup at the SOTU. No one who expects to be taken seriously should be dressing like a middle school kid begging for attention. That's what makes me think she just doesn't care if she's respected, she'll vote however her donors tell her to, regard of her party affiliation of the week.
calimary
(83,812 posts)That certainly is one way to explain it. Indeed, maybe that's it - that she just doesn't care if she's respected because the agenda of her big donors is what matters most.

Until we remove this demographic we are always under the control of the green piece of paper. Especially politicians. Who will always vote with whomever fills their fat wallets.

(29,491 posts)of how much of that wealth is coming from corporate lobbyists, inside investment info, interest groups and payoffs. Im not a financial auditor but there ought to be a way of tracking unethical gains.
Bribes may also easily be in a nonmonetary form. Putin, for example, has been spying and will use this to manipulate our government actions
and republican lawmakers are known for their extramaritals and other hidden activities they could be bribed to keep private. They are easy marks for bribery.
