I am disappointed and did not sleep well.
What I am not is a red ass sore loser like tRump and the republican party.
Greetings and good morning to that other team.

(22,985 posts)It was an intense and well played game and hats off to QB Jalen Hurts and his team.

(17,564 posts)it would have still been a close game and the winner would have been whichever team had the lead when the clock ran out.
2 fantastic teams playing a great game - CONGRATS to BOTH!

(6,448 posts)Congrats to the Chiefs. Thank you both teams as your fans were wonderful guests at least over in the area where ESPN had their broadcast area set up. It was fun to visit with them at 8:30am yesterday. Maybe the fans were tired from partying on Saturday night or just not hyped up at the time of the day. Anyway both were gracious while visiting Old Town of Scottsdale.

(3,819 posts)I was in a rural area that did not get FOX over the repeater. Listened to the game on radio.
The decisions made by the KC coaching staff in the last two minutes of the game were masterful. Deferring a touchdown to burn clock sealed the game.

(33,350 posts)had me biting my nails.
What if the snap were to be mishandled? What if someone were to get a hand up and deflect the ball? What if the kicker slipped?
AAAGHH...deferring a touchdown?!? What a ballsy move. Egads.

(1,777 posts)That ruined what may have been top 3 Superbowls ever.

(46,143 posts)Without the penalty, they would have had a makeable 33 yard field goal. If they make it, by the time the Eagles take the field after the ensuing kick off , they would have around 110 seconds but only one time out to move the ball from the 25 yard line (assuming kick off wasn't returned). Could Philly have moved the ball downfield into field goal range (or score a touchdown)? Sure. But no guarantee.

(1,777 posts)Because the refs called zero holding penalties and no PI the whole game, so players play a certain way. Then at the last minute they call this
Reddick was held all night - zero penalties. Refs called a loose game until they didnt. Totally unacceptable and ruined an otherwise great game.
It should have been Eagles ball with 1:44 and two timeouts- can KC hold or do we go to OT?
Instead we got a questionable flag and a kneel down.
Maybe the worst ending to a Super Bowl ever. The refs dictated the outcome

(1,777 posts)Still doesnt matter. #1 Defensive line on football and zero holding calls despite OBVIOUS holding. If you are going to call a loose game - fine. If the hold had been egregious - fine. The fans were robbed.

You might step away from the sour grapes...
DenaliDemocrat
(1,777 posts)There is holding and hand fighting on every play. The players get a feel for how the reds are going to call the game and react accordingly.
For example, Reddick was getting tackled every play and Frank Clark lines up on the neutral zone at least 50% of the time.
There were 0 holding calls, 0 PI calls for 58.5 minutes- until
And it BARELY a hold and the ball was probably uncatchable. Ruined a good game. Its a shame.

(113,974 posts)all credible argument.
Beginning to look more like:

Grace in acknowledging losing is a sign of maturity and we all see our teams lose from time to time. Something our RW colleagues will apparently never learn, but I'd like to think we would not join that crowd.
DenaliDemocrat
(1,777 posts)How about you?
The fans lost because the ref made a tacky call
Greg Olsen played Pro ball and was a hell of a TE. He agrees with me.
Maybe youre just a homer who cant take honest criticism of a call that they liked.

(113,974 posts)I see why your athletic career didn't go further. And no, I'm not impressed by your rule-breaking time playing Division II ball any more than I'm impressed with those who advocate breaking the rules in other contexts. Quite the take on ethics.

(1,777 posts)1/2 of the game. They called it once. The tackled belly flopped on Reddick and failed to attempt to get up.
Clark hit Joe Burrow in the head and reds didnt call roughing.
Im sure youre outraged

(113,974 posts)The mature among those players and coaches know it will even out and chalk it up, concentrating on teamwide efforts to avoid penalties in the future.
The mature among them...
Maybe you should sue or instigate a takeover of the KC Chiefs headquarter or the state's capitol. There's the ticket.
DenaliDemocrat
(1,777 posts)Especially since they called the other 58.5 minutes loose as hell. Its not right. Go be a homer. Im not even a Philly fan. Alaska is Hawk country.
Im tired of the refs deciding games. Thats an AFC championship and now a Superbowl.

(113,974 posts)especially if biased-- among NFL refs-- then you can constantly complain and drive away all who might ordinarily be predisposed to listen OR you can seek to enact change. First, you would need a data-driven analysis to show any evidence that specific refs were the problems (and thus it does NOT even out) and to show unfair bias towards or against specific teams. When you have that systematically collected and analyzed data, I'll gladly listen. It would take time but the data is out there. Until then, sour grapes are not tasty, or an attractive look. So, I wish you well, but bye.
DenaliDemocrat
(1,777 posts)You dont know football very well do you? You do realize that the referees are CONTRACT employees and not full-time employees of the nfl - right?
That poorly called games influencing outcomes has caused the nfl to seek to convert referees to full time employees like the NBA and MLH? An argument that has been fought for years, and STILL has no resolution.
That part-time employees not fully dedicated to their craft is and continues to be a major criticism of the NFL referee system?
Yeah Bye. Come back when you are educated on the subject, the issues, criticisms, etc.
hlthe2b
(113,974 posts)YOU WANT CHANGE IN THE REFS, so it behooves YOU to prove what the NFL is very unlikely to make public--ever.
Done with your combative conversation. Bye.

(1,777 posts)Yeah were done. I sure hope the NFL does some analysis on the referees. That was a GREAT idea you had 😂😂😂

(113,974 posts)So, I thank you for your mature response. We've had a few who were far less gracious. As one who has been on both sides of the win/lose equation with my favored teams, I just don't get the latter attitude. We all hope to live to play another day, right?

It was actually fun to watch this year, unlike so many others.
The Eagles came in 2nd place, and that's a great achievement.
