Tough decisions had to be made for this contest, as there were many worthy entrants.
Thank you to all who entered, and thank you to all who viewed, commented and voted.
First place: Carp Leaping the Dragon Gate by mnhtnbb

2nd place: Antelope Canyon by CaliforniaPeggy

Third place:Miss Scarlett (Macaw) by LakeArenal

Although we typically do not mention fourth place, there was a three way tie, which I though needed acknowledgement.

(33,349 posts)We routinely have the Submission thread and a comments thread for each month's contest in the Photography group. The Submissions thread shows the photographer, the photo, and a title for each entry. A separate Comments thread is posted for people to talk about the entries and offers a space for photographers to identify where photos were taken and what equipment might have been used, etc.

(42,770 posts)Used to be able to email pic to host? Or did we just DM entry, can't remember. I just remember it was anonymous and the host checked for size reqs and checked to make sure the theme topic was met. Then somehow held on to all and posted together in a poll.
mnhtnbb
(33,349 posts)who then posts all of them in preliminary threads for voting.
I've been entering contests for 10? years and I don't remember ever being in one that was anonymous. It's a lot of extra work for the host, which is probably why no one wants to run one that way!

(33,349 posts)which I visited with my son and his partner last December. It is an annual exhibit, but the first time I had gone to see it.
It is based upon a Chinese myth, explained here:
Nowadays, Carp Leaping over the Dragon Gate symbolises good wishes for overnight achievements, advancements and life changing moments.

It was, indeed, a colorful and very competitive contest. Congratulations to the other winners and all who entered, and thanks to the DU members who faithfully follow our contests every month, vote and leave encouraging comments for the photographers.
