What was the point of demonizing Democrats? Now they pretend like it didn't happen. "Hillary was right about everything." What the hell were people like this doing?
yardwork
(69,364 posts)A lot of people who thought they were smarter than everybody else got taken in by online propaganda. They helped Trump win and now they've got a big hangover.
Voltaire2
(15,377 posts)It was a prediction that her nomination was going to result in a disaster for the republic. She wasnt wrong about the disaster, that happened. It is not obvious that any other candidate would have done better. All we have as evidence, rather than speculation, is that Trump won and Clinton lost.

(10,333 posts)If I say I'm gonna rob a bank and I proceed to rob a bank, I'm not a fucking psychic -- I'm a bank robber.
The only "Weimar level mistake" here was the childish shit they pulled that helped bring about some of the worst stains on our democracy in our nation's history. The Republicans and the Russians were cheering them on every step of the way. And they now have years -- if not decades -- to be reminded of their disastrous decision pretty much every Supreme Court ruling.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)for their own destructive actions. They can openly admire others in their tribe FOR helping elect civilization-destroying extremists, but never connect the responsibility. It didn't happen, doesn't exist.
"People like this" instead usually manage to arrive at the same anti-liberal conclusion to justify the ongoing disastrous consequences of their actions and continuation of them: It's the Democratic Party that's really responsible -- and has to be stopped.

(29,078 posts)her ridiculous posts since. Except it's no joke promoting hateful anti-Democratic propaganda and hateful insults -- for what? I'll never understand anyone who did/does that.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)but missed some real eyeopeners -- and didn't seek out what excited those whose neural pathways took them to the same sort of strange conclusions hers did.
This'll likely be informative to others too. After all, the nation's largest forum for politically liberal supporters of Democrats and our ideals always draws some LWers who come to the party because they're neither liberal nor supporters.
This.
treestar
(82,383 posts)on everything, claiming to be, and was a reporter - for the East County News, which was I think just her invention.
She had every background possible: Jewish, but also Mexican. I think she said she had an accent. So she'd easily go into victim mode.
Pre-Trump anti-wind turbine power. They killed too many birds. She once went to comic-con and found federal agents there, planning an early insurrection.

(40,691 posts)Supporting them is just another flavor of climate change denial.
Yeah, I'm a radical environmentalist with a university science degree, and some kind of socialist who doesn't think cheer-leading for wind power automatically makes anyone a Democrat and all-around good person.
It's possible I have a greater tolerance for eccentric people than most, having been raised among them. I've also demonstrated my own eccentricities here on DU often enough these last twenty-one years.
I don't understand the ire people like Nadine or Radio Lady (RIP) raise in some people and I don't understand why certain people thought it necessary to bully them. Sure, hide the posts that deserve to be hidden, that break the rules, and if it leads to a tombstoning, well, that's what keeps this place sane. But there's no reason to deliberately provoke people who are constantly on the edge.
Personally, I have a really thick skin. I've been on the internet since the late 'seventies and have seen it all.
In my real world autistic spectrum life I never know if someone loves me or hates me until they kiss me or try to stab me in the heart. I've got an actual knife scar on my arm from the later. Every so often I'll glance at it to remind myself that it's not always a good idea to say the first crazy thing that pops into my head. Some people don't have that kind of internal filter. What little I have was hard won.
treestar
(82,383 posts)it wasn't the issue of whether the turbines are good enough, but rather her opposition's basis. When she went into victim mode, it never seemed like she was really insulted, but that she used it when she didn't have a logical answer.
