She seems like such a nice woman; not at all disgruntled that she has to still be working. Such a sweet ending to the story!

(40,915 posts)Mitt Romney would call her a 'taker'.
Of course, when she falls again and injures herself, republicans want to cut her Medicare as well.

(3,707 posts)She looks so prematurely aged, as if she's already had a tough, hard life, and she has to do a manual job and keep working, even with her health issues. She seems like such a bright, good person, too.
I hope she has some help investing her windfall and a wonderful retirement!!
Those Goppers are going to be pissing off a lot of people - older seniors are their most solid voting bloc, and they DO turn out to vote!
ETA: Oh yeah, and I hope this drive to eliminate SS and Medicare is what slits the party's wrists.

I know for a fact for example that the money for a number of those on disablity especially the younger ones that never were able to work are living on monies that fall well below the federal poverty level.

(23,062 posts)Kudos to the family who helped this woman.
What is infuriating me is that this woman had to work at this job.
As a whole, it seems to be noteworthy, seems to be exceptional enough to turn into a national news story, when someone does the right thing and helps out their fellow human.
We don't ask to be born. We don't ask to be placed into our circumstances.
People in the Democratic party inherently recognize this, and are proponents of social safety nets. People in the other party want you to suffer before you die.
Heartbreaking.

(17,728 posts)How sad and how sweet at the same time. Sad that this woman finds herself in this predicament and sweet to see that caring, loving couple take care of her. There really are lots of good people out there. I like to think the majority of us are good people.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
