If this was a tweet, I could click on the link in the OP, and retweet it in seconds.

But because Mastodon is ridiculously and inexplicably composed of thousands of different servers, when I click on Reich's "toot," it won't let me retoot or "boost" it, since Reich created his account on a different Mastadon server than I did. Instead, I need to copy his Mastadon hashtag name then paste into into the search box on my Mastsdon server, then once I find him, I have to look for his toot under his page. Once I find the toot, then I can finally rebtoot. Sheesh.

Why can't we have a good, functional alternative to Twitter?

10. So no one server dominates. Nobody owns it. It can't be bought and sold. If Elon

Musk buys up your Mastodon server you can move to a new Mastodon server. It is for stability in the long term. And to keep it Democratic. It is hard to navigate. I only know what I need to know to post at the DU. I'm at an age where excess knowledge is avoided.
