Ill visit every thread discussing rumps legal status and pinch a loaf of negativity into the mix. It wont be based on anything other than observing that nothing has happened yet and Fitzmas.
Sound like a rewarding hobby?

(114,724 posts)residences--as the (Boulder/Superior/Louisville) MARSHALL Fire (and similar) have shown and makes most of us at risk. Not to mention dwindling water supplies. There is no longer any denial possible. But nothing will happen to ameliorate future risks without keeping Trump and his ilk out of the Presidency and that starts with accountability. I have to think the latter is coming. I refuse to think otherwise, albeit the form of accountability may well prove unsatisfactory. THAT I will acknowledge.

(26,615 posts)Since I joined DU, I've been posting lots and lots of GOTV stuff, and the theory is this:
There's damn little I can do with things that I can't control or even influence. Actually, zero to negative returns for any effort.
I just posted this in reply to someone here who decided to argue with a gun-humper. My comment refers to racism, but racism, guns, conspiracy theories ... you name it ... are all part of the cult mentality. You and I, not being licensed therapists, can do nothing for these people. They have to hit rock bottom in some way to recover.
This is from the epilogue of "Stamped From the Beginning", by Ibram X Kendi.
Emphasis mine:
Protesting against racist power and succeeding can never be mistaken for seizing power. Any effective solution to eradicating American racism must involve Americans committed to antiracist policies seizing and maintaining power over institutions, neighborhoods, counties, states, nationsthe world. It makes no sense to sit back and put the future in the hands of people committed to racist policies, or people who regularly sail with the wind of self-interest, toward racism today, toward antiracism tomorrow. An antiracist America can only be guaranteed if principled antiracists are in power, and then antiracist policies become the law of the land, and then antiracist ideas become the common sense of the people, and then the antiracist common sense of the people holds those antiracist leaders and policies accountable.
That's it. We have the numbers. We can urge Democrats and Independents to vote people into office who can make things better. The more the easier to get the job done and squash moronic proposals to undo every good thing since FDR took office.
Damn fine hobby! With rewards.
Control what you can control (mostly you, actually)
Influence those you can influence.
Success is the best revenge.
I don't worry over convictions for criminals. Not that I don't care: It's just that I can't influence any of it, and the longer the criminals go unpunished, the more officials and law enforcement get killed in action by "anti-gubmint" crazies. I don't like it one bit, but only they can pressure for putting thugs away. They have the leverage.
One thing that hearings and trials can do is make people aware, to the extent that MSM just CANNOT BURY the stories, of lies, treason and outrageous violations of law, and I believe that the Jan 6 hearings helped kick the Mango Mussolini out of office.
Just help GOTV.
I can't think of anything with more leverage that you and I have.

(15,909 posts)...are any more productive, unless perhaps you believe in the magical thinking that putting "positive energy out into the universe" is how you get good things like justice and protection against future coups to happen, and the Debbie Downers have the opposite effect.
Or maybe some are afraid that Fani Willis, Merrick Garland, Jack Smith, and others in various justice roles will come here to DU, see all the pessimism, and they'll be insulted or discouraged and give up. Yeah, like it works that way.
