(9,806 posts)The extremists have no heart, but Jimmy Carter has enough heart for the whole continent.
I wish you a peaceful passing, Mr. President.

(4,002 posts)I was a Reagan Republican. I celebrated when he won and in 1984 I voted for him. Being from Minnesota I always found it funny that my home state was the one state Reagan didnt win in his epic landslide.
But time has a way of correcting history. At the time, Carter represented crazy inflation, the failure with Iran, and gas prices. But history also reveals reality. Jimmy Carter might be the most moral man to ever hold the Presidency. His post-office work is legendary. Nobel Peace Prize, Habitat for Humanity, I mean the guy is a SAINT. He represents the best of us and what all Americans should aspire to be. While his Presidency had some issues, his life as an American is what we should all aspire to.
Ill never forget how he left the Southern Baptist Convention because they were so extreme. He realized faith and religion are highly personal and not the way government should be run. Ill say a prayer for him and his family tonight. God Bless James Earl Carter.

(25,355 posts)so I will not get into details. I just want to register that I do not agree with your assessment of Carter's term in office.
But I do agree that he embodied and lived the best of what it is to be human. A truly great human being.

(94 posts)I can't help contrasting the difference between he and trump - cannot conceive of him elbowing people out of the way so he could get his picture taken . Thank you President Carter for all your good work. Wishing you and yours peace and love.
