Jimmy Carter is a happy man. Want to know why?

Because he devoted his life to working for the benefit of others. Whether he was monitoring elections in foreign countries or building houses for Habitat for Humanity, his motivation was always to add value and work for the benefit and happiness of others.

He could have worked to amass a vast fortune lobbying for Wall St or some defense contractor. But no, he didn't need to become a billionaire. He had his farm, his wife, his Sunday School gig, and his work living up to his aspiration to follow the teachings of Jesus -- love your enemies, do unto others, welcome the stranger, feed, cloth, and house the disadvantaged. Basically work for the benefit and happiness of others. This also explains why TFG is not a happy man.

Here's a pic of a happy Jimmy Carter, working for the benefit of others.

You can be so miserable doing all that you want to do, striving and getting, but you can be so miserable. And you will be most miserable if the joy and happiness of others somehow angers and enrages you. This is the QMAGAs right now.

Micah 6:8
The Message
8 But he’s already made it plain how to live, what to do,
what God is looking for in men and women.
It’s quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor,
be compassionate and loyal in your love,
And don’t take yourself too seriously—
take God seriously.

Happiness is a response to what's going on in your life. You can literally be happy one minute, unhappy the next, and happy again the next.
Joy of Living comes from the spirit within. It fills you from the inside out, and won't disappear each time a dark cloud rolls into your life.
We often refer to it as happiness, but it is much deeper, much more robust, and much more fulfilling.
Jimmy is full of it, in the best possible way.

President Carter is content in any circumstance. Happy or sad, good or bad, easy or hard he’s content in all.

He transcends ordinary happiness and sadness, he’s steady in both. So what does he do with his life? He builds housing for others and teaches a few lucky churchgoers what to do in those “moments of truth”.

But IMHO both Biden and Obama are happy men too, because they also work for the benefit and happiness of others. Not like jimmy Carter, of course, but in their own way, they are men of integrity and strive to make good decisions - not just for themselves.

…most human, altruist President America had during that century.

The entire GOP and all of the shitty little incles in that party don’t have the honor or dignity that President Carters footprint leaves behind. If ever there was a person the media should have put on a pedestal to be held up as an example of how one person can have such an impact in the world around them President Carter is that person. Another huge fail by the for profit media establishment.

Thank you President Carter for all you have done. You can sit back and rest now good Sir, you’ve done more than what could be reasonably asked of anyone. You have always put others before you let the favor and thoughtfulness be returned.

Been what it is now…field service hospitals and an ambulance service plus many, many other advances in Medicine didn’t come about until the Civil War.

Lincoln is in a class by himself. How one man shouldered the weight of the country he was just made President of that was tearing itself apart and heading towards conflict. No other President has had to deal with war that in some cases was brother against brother or father is absolutely amazing.

I think Lincoln felt every death in the Civil War. The image of him before he took office and the last one taken by Brady (I think) shows a drastically/devastating change in his facial feature.

I believe he lost the peanut farm. He was forced to sell it. I'm not sure why, but it might have had something to do with his brother Billy.

Jimmy and Rosalyn have spent their later years comfortably however they are in no way wealthy. They also have no debts other than the normal stuff. The Carters found a way to live out their dreams, post-White House.

They are America's best.

... and Billy mismanaged it? Not sure. I remember reading about their mother "Miss Lillian" who lived there until she went into a nursing home. It was a long time ago and the details are sketchy.

I think they kept a lot of it out of the news media.
