Why is the governor of Florida talking to Staten Island cops?

https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/nyc-mayor-eric-adams-takes-shot-florida-gov/story?id=97333945

Adams, a Democrat, has feuded with the Florida governor repeatedly over DeSantis sending migrants to the Northeast and the state's so-called "Don't Say Gay" law. Adams singled out several GOP talking points in his tweet as he "welcomed" the governor -- a possible presidential candidate in 2024.

"Welcome to NYC, @GovRonDeSantis, a place where we don’t ban books, discriminate against our LGBTQ+ neighbors, use asylum seekers as props, or let the government stand between a woman and health care," Adams wrote.

"We’re happy to teach you something about values while you’re here," he added.

DeSantis met with local law enforcement in Staten Island on Monday morning. He was joined by Lee Zeldin, the former New York congressman who lost a heated battle for governor to Democrat Kathy Hochul.

He’s going for the MAGA/ Racist folks to shore up his nomination. I don’t think it will work out well for him in the General election if he does get the nomination.
But who knows, republicans are good at scaring folks into thinking “the other” is coming to get them and they are actually the ones being oppressed.

He won't announce because he'd have to comply with FEC regs regarding donations. He's a far bigger slimeball than tfg only because he's smarter and stays below the oversight radar.

Nothing will change. The racism. Fascism, misogyny, hatred and white supremacy...NONE OF IT...will change, unless and until we make racism, fascism, misogyny, hatred and white supremacy unprofitable to the businesses, corporations and individuals that fund and enable it..

The current authoritarian former police officer Mayor Adams, like Giuliani would never have gotten into office without those authoritarian voting blocks in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens.
Manhattan has been a big real estate money laundering operation for decades. Propped up Manhattan real estate prices is what has driven the young and middle class to Brooklyn

Staten Island-nesting police families are one of the major suppliers of retirees to The Villages in Florida. De Santis is honoring and holding close his Florida constituency. I think The Villages voted massively for Trump and DeSantis.

I don’t know who is the bigger phony, DeSantis or Adams.

Maaaaybe they didn't want us "libruls" to know?

If it had been announced maybe some protesters would have shown up? Otoh I'd be wary getting near, and protesting a police event.
Sure I know there's good cops out there, but too many bad ones. ☹️

It is New York City's most right wing borough, by far.

I fully expect that DeSantis would carry that borough in a Presidential election. So would Adolf Hitler, I suspect.

Obviously my wife was a dissident when she lived there.

It was the downside of the building of the Verrazzano Bridge. I still remember the the great migration. Flatbushers were the worst, spouting the N word all over the little towns they were obliterating as they built the tricky tacky houses everywhere. Along with them came the Brooklyn crime families.
Actually the worse racists in NYC are the super rich on the upper Eastside-deadly combination of billionaire bucks, racism, and classism and a cover of sharm charm.
