National Reporters, there’s a story in MT: an entire party has lost its effing mind. Among other things the State repubs have tried to outlaw teaching of gravity and plate tectonics. Now they introduce a bill to make illegal for vaccinated people to donate blood or organs.

Because, it's not already hard enough to get people to donate blood or be organ donors. I'm beyond sick of these assholes and their anti-vaccination garbage.

Of course, it will lead to an accelerated population loss; but that's the price they want to pay to defy science and common sense.

Montana anti-vaxers must refuse any and all life saving donations from those that have been vaccinated.

To be eligible for a transplant. They don't want to give an organ to a person who will get sick and die from a preventable disease 2 days after getting the donation.

Seems like an interesting way to legislate your way into a healthcare nightmare. The modern Republican Party....a bunch of morons that think winning an election gives them a license to practice medicine.

Question...is there any chance that blood from unvaccinated people carries this virus?

I take if for granted nowadays that there is a crazy caucus in every Red State legislature, but it makes a huge difference whether a bill like this wins the support of 5% of the legislators or 50% of the legislators.

it is an extraordinarily stupid law with a stupid goal. And it would be ineffective in achieving its goal in any event. First, spike proteins etc. don't remain in the body for a significant length of time. Second, the law includes a "knowingly" standard and the average person isn't going to know whether the spike preteens etc are present or not. And while a doctor administering whole blood, etc. might be able to test for the presence, the law doesn't specifically require it. Finally the penalty is $500, which isn't likely to stop most people from trying to get a life saving treatment.

The wait list for transplanted organs is usually long, sometimes so long patients die before a transplant organ becomes available. You put this sort of nonsensical restriction in place and the availability will be reduced to nearly zero. Same with blood. If there's a catastrophic event in Montana, natural or otherwise, citizens would be deprived of life-saving transfusions.

A death cult!
