Financial support is a part of it. They also find his antipathy to a free press, his hatred of the lgbt community, and disdain for people of color, and his embrace of religion quite appealing.

c. They love authoritarian figures...

e. They oppose anything the "left" supports.. even if it means their own enslavement.

The reason so many right wingers are supporting Putin, is because he represents the kind of government that right wingers want.

Putin has outlawed homosexuality, has taken control of the Press, and is decrying "degeneracy" which is a right wing buzzword that has been popular in Neo Nazi circles for a long time.


Russia has not been Communist (if it ever truly was) since the 1990's when Yeltsin was deposed. Russia in all of its 1191 year history, was labeled Communist for about 70 years and people simply seem to associate Russia with Communism. Before 1920 Russia was an absolute monarchy (a right wing concept). After the fall of the USSR, it has been a right wing capitalist state.

The term "Communist" is only thrown out now to rile up right wingers and smear left leaning people with the problems that existed in the USSR and China from the 1940s through the 1990's.

“Putin and his top advisers routinely denigrated Obama and his national security team as ‘weak’ and ‘indecisive’ — and then, contradictorily, blamed him for meddling in Russia’s internal affairs.
