(94,672 posts)...testing the evidence they've already presented to the grand jury by forcing the principals to account for it all (or not) before jurors.
End game, with challenges, claims of privilege and other squirming, this time in front of the GJ.

Staying mum might keep the damage from piling on, but in many cases, the damage may already be done in testimony before the grand jury.
Also, there may be opportunities or efforts to immunize one or both to overcome any reticence to testify, all of that in front of the jurors, as well.

(24,098 posts)And that testimony is certainly admissible evidence, I dont think theyll be taking the fifth in front of the grand jury. Same thing for privilege claims.

Ivanka Trump, the daughter of former President Donald Trump, and her husband Jared Kushner have been subpoenaed by special counsel Jack Smith, ABC News has learned.
The subpoena for the couple is specifically related to the special counsel's probe of Jan. 6 and the activities leading up to that day by the former president and his allies regarding efforts to overturn the election, sources told ABC News.
A spokesperson for Trump and Kushner did not respond to ABC News.
The news was first reported by The New York Times.
This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.

(24,726 posts)You know they're rich, when they hire a spokesperson to not respond. You'ld think they could not respond on their own.

(39,704 posts)that's what I noted to Al just last week.
I know it seems like forever--it feels that way to me too. I'm hoping this means he's making an air-tight case.
I imagine it will still be a few months. I think it HAS to come before the DOJ's self-imposed 90-day rule. If the first primaries are in February or March of next year, then before Thanksgiving. (Hopefully WAY before Thanksgiving.)
