US ending extra help for groceries that started during COVID

WASHINGTON — Nearly 30 million Americans who got extra government help with grocery bills during the pandemic will soon see that aid shrink — and there’s a big push to make sure they’re not surprised.

Officials in 32 states and other jurisdictions have been using texts, voicemails, snail mail, flyers and social media posts — all in multiple languages — to let recipients know that their extra food stamps end after February's payments.

I belive this ended in TN over a year ago, but not sure.

What I did find is that TN decreased SNAP benefits due to increase in SSA/SSI/SSDI as of January. Funny how that works, hu? this is consistent with what retired neighbor shared. Was receiving $156/mo SNAP until SSA increase. Now cut to $54/mo. Nice, right?

4. This is a literal killer for some people

Have a good friend who's a disabled vet battling all sorts f serious health issues. This extra money allowed him to buy real food and eat healthier. He's going to return to whatever is cheapest with less money.
