A lot of red states now want to leave the union.

A lot of those red states get way more in federal spending then they pay is taxes.
Idaho gets $1.69 back from the feds for every dollar they pay in taxes.
Kentucky is another state with their hand out. They get 1.68 back per dollar is taxes paid
Eight of the 10 states most dependent on the federal government traditionally vote Republican.

So I say the first thing we do is take them off the teat. Hey red states yer on your own. Pay yer own way for your treason.

You will find all of the ways they are hindering fair elections, trying to get people taken off voter rolls, taking away drop boxes, polling places. You name it. Even some USPS mailboxes were taped shut in my area, so you couldn't mail anything, including your absentee ballot. I took mine directly to the registration office to make sure mine got there. The lines were wrapped around the building. All day long for days, from my understanding. That's how we prevailed. Thank you.

I agree with many of your posts and comments but there are many in the South and West who would openly entertain the possibility of secession from the United States. They are either ignorant or lack a basic understanding of what the federal government actually does for them. Texas keeps bringing it up because they were independent for 9 years before they became part of the United States.
Seceding is not realistic but what MTG is doing is creating a groundswell of hatred and contempt for the federal government

Then don’t come crying to us when your new house collapses on your family and kills them because you thought it’d be great to get rid of the safety regulations. We’ll get rid of the regulations, and you won’t mind eating food that hasn’t been inspected for safety before it went to market and maybe it’ll be full of worms or over sprayed with chemicals that nobody bothered to check for chemicals linked to birth defects… (that the growers used for fertilizer because it was cheaper and didn’t cut into their profit margins.”

I could go on but sometimes I even annoy myself.

Anybody who's raised a toddler knows that they throw temper tantrums and say things they don't really mean. It's just their way of crying out for attention or help.

The Republicans in the house are going through sort of equivalent of potty training right now. Their instincts are based on rebelling screaming for help. They have the responsibility of governing now but they honestly don't know how to go about it. Situations like this naturally lead to temper tantrums and a lot of feces being smeared on the walls

After Perry's comments (in 2009) received news coverage, Rasmussen Reports (we know how liberal they are) found that about 1 in 3 of those it polled believed that Texas has the right to secede from the United States, although only 18% would support secession and 75% would oppose secession. In another poll, 60% of Texans surveyed opposed becoming an independent nation. However, 48% of Texas Republicans surveyed supported it. The reaction from outside the state was also strongly split, including those who wanted to get rid of Texas. - from Wikipedia

It's no secret that much of the big run-up in crypto prices in the weeks following the 2020 election, was due to Republicans (and RW-led businesses) stocking up on crypto "cause Biden's coming for our guns, our homes, our savings, and our hamberders!!"

But once the panic subsided, so did crypto prices - Putin's war and all!

I've noticed over the years that - while a lot of it is human nature - Republicans (in general) are lot more given to Dutch tulips than the rest of us.

Something to do with the fact their fight-or-flight response is more "itchy" than other folks', I believe having read.

Doesn't matter though, the christofascists have another plan. The Alito Court is going to be giving states rights more rein and they are going to give the states a semi-secession.

Also complete secession will destroy the states economies.

Loss of military bases, gov't agencies, MIC, corporations will leave and the support jobs will to.

Sane people will leave these states, depleting their tax base.

Not to mention it is unconstitutional.

No state legislature/government has seriously proposed doing so. It's clickbait BS.

And blue states say we've got the tech and becoming energy self-sufficient. Not to mention lots of own food growing.

But, hey, it's all just nutty speculation, somewhat dangerous, and needs to be shut down the way you did.

But the only way they maintain power is by vigorous gerrymandering and other vote suppression techniques.

Look at Georgia — one idiot white nationalist in the House versus two Democratic Senators, one Black and one Jewish. Fani Willis is Black, the mayor of Atlanta and his predecessor are both Black, Stacey Abrams is Black. The sheer quality of these people should make all of us proud. A oush to un-suppress the vote, and Georgia will be “purple,” not red.

I say, fight for our fellow Democrats across the red states. Fight.

of "we pay more in they get more back so screw 'em". It sounds like repuke BS response against social programs via a pull themselves up by their "ideological" bootstraps argument if you will. I think its anti Democratic party in my view. This whole debate is foolish anyway IMO 'cause it ain't happening.

I agree, start taking away from the lesser taker states who vote against progress then get it anyway. If they vote no they don't get it. Sounds fair eh?

In a red state. I vote blue in every election, even thought it doesn’t make a difference. I can’t move. Want to cut off my Social Security and Medicare?

Some more red than blue, but every state has a mix of people across the demographic and political spectrum.

If gerrymandering and voter suppression were ended, state governments currently full-blown MAGA would not look nearly so red.

A state can’t leave the union - ever. A governor can declare whatever they want, or, state legislatures can pass whatever they want - the Federal Government does not recognize states’ rights to secede from the union.

The only way a state could try to become its own territory would be through military force. This would certainly fail and put that state in dire financial straits. Also, most people are not dumb enough to support such a thing.

MTG is just speaking bullshit again.

Losing my religion: Means losing your temper or being at the end of your rope. Old southern saying. I may be wrong but I believe most folks do not understand that line.

"Losing my Religion" makes more sense now, and of course it's a Southern expression as REM is from Georgia. I'm pushing 60, highly educated and well-read, and lived in Mississippi for two years and never heard the expression. Think I'm going to adopt it now, though. Much more polite than "losing my shit." lol

I use it when I can but the problem is no one understands what I am saying. I actually went back and edited the explanation.
REM took some heat because there were those who thought the line was anti religion.

Something like this - this is Checkpoint Bravo, which you went through to get from East Germany to the west side of West Berlin - would be constructed everywhere a road crossed from the United States to the New Confederacy.

"We don't allow people to enter the United States with a trunk full of guns. Take that shit home right now. One word out of you and I'll arrest you for smuggling."
