State lawmaker vows to filibuster all bills until GOP withdraws abortion, gender-affirming care bans

Nebraska state Sen. Machaela Cavanaugh (D) on Thursday pledged to filibuster every bill on the state’s legislative agenda this session if two Republican-backed bills seeking to ban both abortion and gender-affirming health care for transgender youth are not immediately withdrawn.

“If this legislature collectively decides that legislating hate against children is our priority, then I am going to make it painful; painful for everyone,” Cavanaugh, one of just 17 Democrats in Nebraska’s unicameral legislature, said Thursday at the state capitol in Lincoln. “Because if you want to inflict pain upon our children, I am going to inflict pain upon this body.”

“I have nothing, nothing but time,” Cavanaugh said, “and I am going to use all of it.”

Call out Republican insanity every time, everywhere at all levels, from city council, county GOP party, state houses or MTG.
Every regressive troglodyte is evidence of the GOP danger to the USA, due to the party's encouraging, not renouncing, nasty, mean, brutish behavior.

Time to “return the favor”, so to speak.

Taste of their own medicine. See how they like it.

Fight every nuance, every tiny thing, every single step of the way.

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because that is what the GOP has been doing to the Democrats for DECADES. And now we are FINALLY starting to play hardball with the billionaire-parasite-funded hatemongers and greed-bags.

Let's go right back at 'em.

They don’t expect us to play hardball like they always do.

They don’t expect us to use bullying tactics like they always do.

They don’t expect us to scheme and strategize with RUTHLESSNESS, like they always do.

So WE will have the advantage. It’ll help knock them off their game, because they don’t have a template for dealing with that. They expect us to be accommodating. They expect us to be meek and conciliatory, and see their bad behavior and either give into it actively or passively run from it. Not responding in the way they expect will throw them off their game. Advantage: DEMS.

But for opposite reasons. He sponsored anti-women’s healthcare, anti/college-scholarship, anti-civil rights, etc bills but he couldn’t have written them. Who did?

He essentially filibustered to stop a Voting Rights bill from being heard.
