https://www.propublica.org/article/parental-alienation-utah-livestream-siblingsTwo siblings in Utah have barricaded themselves in a bedroom at their mothers home in defiance of a judges order to return to the custody of their father, despite state child welfare investigators determining that he had sexually abused the children.
The judge has authorized police to use reasonable force including entry into locked rooms against Brynlee Larson, 12, and Ty Larson, 15. Ty has spent the last month livestreaming on TikTok to call attention to their case.
The showdown is the fallout from the latest family court battle over parental alienation a disputed psychological theory in which one parent is accused of brainwashing a child to turn them against the other parent.
My own word does not matter, and they dont believe my truth, Ty said in a video posted to TikTok last month that received more than 370,000 views. The court system isnt trying to save us, nobodys trying to keep us safe. I am the one thats going to have to choose my own safety.
Police visited the home in December and attempted to remove the siblings but decided not to break down the door despite the fathers request that they do so, according to police reports. Given the potentially combustible situation, officers have asked for clarification from the court before carrying out Judge Derek P. Pullans order, according to court records.

(23,497 posts)"In 2018, Utahs Division of Child and Family Services found that the father, Brent Joel Larson, had sexually and emotionally abused his children. Investigators categorized the abuse as severe & chronic. The findings led to Larsons parenting time being restricted to a handful of supervised monthly visits, as well as a 150-day restraining order that prohibited him from having any other contact with the children."

(106,212 posts)Now there's an Orwellian phrase for you.
Gottliebs services include taking the children to an undisclosed location for a four-day sequestration period. During treatment, the children meet with the unjustifiably rejected parent. Afterward, they remain in the alienated parents custody for 90 days and are prohibited from having contact with the other parent or related family members.
In an interview with ProPublica, Gottlieb said she is dismayed at how social media is being used to attack her program and others like it.
We cant have what happened in Utah happen again, said Gottlieb, who said she will be requesting that courts that refer minors to her program issue orders prohibiting parents and children who resist from speaking publicly about their cases.
This seems like a case where the children are old enough to be able to express themselves independently, so what they say should carry a lot of weight. And they are certainly adamant.

Its a made up diagnosis not in any medical book. Used by courts and fake therapists to rake in tens of thousands in court costs and therapy fees while abusing children.

Fifteen is definitely old enough to decide who to live with, and 12 usually is.

(19,704 posts)officially supports child sexual abuse.
Those poor kids and their mother. I can't even imagine how torturous it is for them all to know that they will be forced to go back to a place where they are guaranteed to be sexual abused.
I really believed that it was better than when I was a kid being abused. Apparently, nothing has changed.

(102,798 posts)It's all good. Houses in that part of the world often have five+ bedrooms. Idaho is worse, reminds me of New England in the'60s, kids were possessions and as long as you didn't actually kill them, it was up to you as to what you did with them.

Further, Gardner was sympathetic towards child sex abusers, saying theres a little bit of pedophilia in all of us, claiming that children sometimes seduce adults and excusing pedophilia by saying it was normal in many cultures.
He died by suicide in 2003.

(Minh is the mother of 2 children, Hannah and Matthew, who were ordered to receive the "therapy".)
Eventually, all the parties except for Minh headed to the hotel where Gottlieb began her session. The private investigators followed. During that first session, Gottlieb reportedly punched Hannah. Minh received a text from Matthew saying that he needed the police. The private investigators called the police and contacted the hotel staff. When the police arrived, Hannah reported the abuse and was taken to the hospital. She was hospitalized for three days, effectively ending the four-day therapy program. All parties left New York after Hannahs hospitalization ended.
