WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)Representative George Santos hastily removed an entry from his résumé indicating that he had worked at a biological laboratory in Wuhan, China, the congressmans office has confirmed.
The entry, which said that Santos worked at the lab in late 2019, disappeared with no explanation in the early hours of Monday morning.
Speaking to reporters on Capitol Hill, Santos said that he had no idea how the Wuhan job wound up on his C.V.
I havent even spent time in China since 2007, when I invented the iPhone, he said.

(53,918 posts)It's not a joking matter. There's already too much doubt as to what's what with Santos.

(15,371 posts)I don't know. I may agree with you a little bit.
When something or someone is as ridiculous as these clowns, it's hard not to have a joke, or many, at their expense.

(53,061 posts)Placing brilliant satire into play to show the absurdity of actual Santos claims is like proclaiming there is "no fighting in the war room".
You should just give everything Borrowitz does a pass.

but now that Borrowitz says that he hastily erased it from his resume, who knows if had listed it in the first place?
I myself don't call that brilliant satire. It just confuses the issue, which brilliant satire does not do.

(15,506 posts)Yes he lies about everything but even he wouldn't put something waaaaaaaay over the top on his resume. It would be like him saying he was the Chiefs Quarterback and won the MVP.

(15,506 posts)I would bet that he would lie and say he was a community worker or model, but not something as big-name as Wuhan or being a sports MVP. Before I clicked it I knew it was satire.

Colbert's roasting of Trump every night had 100 times the impact of angry internet screeds.
Your critique of Borrowitz is uninspired and demonstrates a lack of perspective.
Nothing is more damaging to a politician than being laughed at.

ambushes readers with seemlingly real headlines of a recent, maga outrage, only to click on it and find it's a joke.
Call me humorless but I that's not what I come to DU for.
As for "The Onion", they're better at it than Borowitz, IMO.
Guilty as charged.
