Former House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) said he will not attend the Republican National Conference (RNC) if former President Donald Trump is the GOP’s presidential nominee in 2024.

“It depends on who the nominee is,” Ryan told Milwaukee ABC affiliate WISN-TV on Saturday. “I’ll be here if it’s someone not named Trump.”

Ryan also made clear he would not endorse Trump, who he earlier this year described as a “proven loser.”

“Anybody but Trump,” he told WISN.

The 2024 Republican convention is scheduled to be held in Milwaukee, in Ryan’s home state, but the former house speaker said he nevertheless wouldn’t attend the event with Trump as nominee.

We're already hearing leading repubs say that Trump is too divisive/radical/immoral and they'd rather have someone like DeSantis (as if DeSantis isn't just Trump wrapped up in a slightly less offensive package). This positioning worked for Kemp in Georgia and it will work for a lot of people in the case of Trump.

14. The difference between DeSantis and Trump is simply that DeSantis has better manners.

DeSantis knows how to behave in public, whereas Trump is the personification of the old saying, "You can dress him up, but you can't take him anywhere."

Scrape the "civilized human" veneer off of DeSantis, and the stuff underneath is the same. Trump doesn't even bother with a veneer.
