“Ricou Browning, who took to the water as the menacing Gill-Man in the Creature From the Black Lagoon and as the creative force behind the original Flipper movie and TV show, has died. He was 93.

Browning died Monday of natural causes at his home in Southwest Ranches, Florida, his daughter Kim Browning told The Hollywood Reporter. “He had a fabulous career in the film industry, providing wonderful entertainment for past and future generations,” she said.”

when I was nine years old. I haven't watched it since.

The creature didn't seem to get an onscreen credit. I wondered who played him.

Odd trivia to know but other than being a huge Gill Man fan I had to do research for a short story.

4. That is a wonderful article! I had a thing for Gill Man as a kid.

I didn’t know anything about him except he was in the suit (in the swimming scenes-Ben Chapman was the creature on land). But man, what a CV! He was part of all the animal oriented TV series in the 60s.
