The Coup of Fools will go down as one of the biggest, most foolish, blunders in our history.

It was a flat out foolish act committed by foolish people. The attempted Coup did disrupt the vote count for a little while. Never for one moment did I believe Trump and his band of idiots would take over and install Trump as a king, end our democracy.

Trump went forward with his foolish coup attempt even after he knew Pence was not joining the coup. That was game over and Trump still went forward.

Even if Pence went along with the coup it would not have worked for long. If Pence tried to put in the fake electors the Democrats would have rebelled. In order to overthrow America Trump would have to do this. He would need the entire military behind him. He did not have that, not even close. He would have to declare Martial law. He would have to kill or imprison Biden, Democratic leaders across the country. The Military would have had to put down millions of Americans who would have immediately hit the streets in violent protests.

Trump never came close to overthrowing America. He started a riot that was put down in a matter of hours. Now Trump and his band of idiots are facing prosecution.

that was their 1st mistake, thinking it was about a bldg.

the whole thing proves, once and for all, imho, that there is a max size for a conspiracy to succeed. and most def a max # of crazy idiots.

Could DeSantis win the presidency?

All the anti education, anti LGBTQ, anti civil right legislation that is actually being enacted throughout the country is appalling.

before one side or the other finally is able to get and stabilize control. That's where we are. Democracy's winning, but the struggle's far from over.

tRump and the trumpists also pushed in and overwhelmed an existing, slow-rolling takeover by anti-democracy RW powers controlling the GOP establishment to get rid of unacceptable control by and existential threat from 250 million democratically empowered people. The "establishment" plotters have been able to use tRump's election to advance their power at all levels, including federal courts, and, though they haven't regained control of the right from tRump's more extreme and continuing populist movement are very dangerous.

Doesn't matter how stupid it was, the people who try coup attempts like this will always come back like roaches unless they're property dealt with and quickly

The first is just a company picnic. If not dealt with, the greater good will perish. All means, no matter how extreme, must be used to curtail this accordingly. Even if it is through private citizen remedies.

To your point, though, I think the Republican lies are finally being seen for what they are - look at what has happened around their desire to pad the pockets of billionaire parasites even further by eliminating/cutting Social Security so wage slaves must work for longer and the possibility of retirement goes out the window.

Fine with Wall Street!

For Main Street, not so much.

Elimination and suppression, Fox Media, and the North Carolina Legislator Overrule of votes and ability of appointment of their preferred Electoral College reps, headed to the white supremacy court this summer, trump and MTG could sail right in to the White House easily. We are at war now for democracy, and it it’s lost so will any semblance of Justice in this country. It is all riding on the Fox law suit and trump et al being convicted.
I can’t wait for the “Suits” Prison Choir with Trump speaking the pledge. They can certainly have a Co-Ed Choir with the guilty Congress and Senate traitors.
The “Boots” Prison Choir with Trump reciting the Pledge is some really sick shit. It will be played at CPAC as King Trump sloths out onto stage this weekend with roars from the sparse crowd of cult.

If Pence had gone along with the scheme, we would have gone to a contingent election with the House voting to choose the winner. That vote is not done with each congressman having one vote. It is done with each state having ONE vote, so 50 total votes, 26 to win. Democrats had the majority of congressmen in the House, but Republicans had more states, 26 states in fact. That would have given them the majority and given the win to Trump.

With Pence refusing to go along with it, they still had another path. Force Pence off the property and continue from there. With Pence not presiding over the count, the President Pro Tempore of the Senate would preside over the count. That would have been Republican senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa. If Grassley goes along with the plan that Pence would not, we get the contingent election and a 2nd Trump term.

If you think that 2nd scenario is a long shot, recall that Pence's secret service detail wanted to do exactly that. They wanted to take him to a "secure location" but he refused to get in the car. THAT is how close we came.

If we delve into conspiracy theories a bit, they knew beforehand that Pence was unlikely to go along with it because he told them he didn't have the power to do what they asked. They knew Grassley would preside if Pence was unable and prepared for that. In fact, Grassley even stated that he expected to preside over the count. Wonder why that was? Unless he was in on it and knew something was in the works to put that roll into his hands.

a possibility that the J6 insurrection will have been the opening round of the Civil War II, Trump and his army may be hailed as the founders of the new nation currently known as Whiteland. The Dictator of the nation may be the great grandchild of MTG and Matt Gaetz.

We are a hell of a long way from being out of the woods with the current rise of our American brand of Fascism and the history will be written by the winners.
