AOC: When I opposed this Amazon project coming to New York bc it was a scam of public funds, the

whole power establishment came after us. Billboards went up in Times Sq denouncing me. Powerful pols promised revenge. Op-Eds & CEOs insulted my intelligence.

In the end, we were right.

I know I’ll never get an apology for that time, but it was worth it. We protected NYers from a scam deal to drain public dollars from schools & infrastructure in exchange for empty promises of “Amazon jobs” w/ 0 guarantees or guardrails. Sadly, cities who took it are suffering.

Was structured so that Amazon would get certain benefits only if employment levels met certain targets. Gov Northam (D) and his team weren’t dumb. They have hired about a third of the employees they hoped to hire and have replaced some deteriorating buildings with new offices and green space. Phase ii of construction is being paused for now.

nearly half of which are filled now. Those don't include the many thousands of jobs that will come with the second phase.

Her killing this was protested in Times Square, huh? Considering that only 11% of Democrats in her district had voted for her, maybe for something this big she should have asked constituents... Oh, heck. Forget it -- those who didn't vote deserved to lose out.

She has lots of money (so does Bernie Sanders). What does Wall Street have to do with anything? How do they control Teh Establishment? You mean the Biden administration and the Democratic Party are bribed? Why do you think that?

Multiple posts spreading on Facebook claim Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., has a net worth of $29 million.

“How in the hell is AOC worth $29 million,” reads an Aug. 4 Facebook post shared more than 400 times. “She was just bar tending (sic) the other day!”

A different Aug. 4 Facebook post mentions Ocasio-Cortez’s student loan debt, which is a topic she has spoken about many times. “AOC net worth is $29 million, on a government salary that paid $174k yearly,” reads the post, which was shared more than 170 times. “You better believe she can pay off her own damn student loan.”

But the claim is false. Ocasio-Cortez’s most recent financial disclosure, which was filed in 2021, shows her with assets between $3,003 and $45,000, including a 401(k) plan, and student loan debt between $15,001 and $50,000.

The knee-jerk shrieking and bashing of good liberals. And then those same individuals whine and complain when WE don't agree with THEM.

All too often, it feels like debating with a Fox addict.

The establishment in congress or NY is the leadership of the party.

You can be elected to congress and be a contrary voice to the majority opinion.

There are several phases.

MetPlace will have two towers.

One tower's apparently done and already has 8000 people working there. When the second is completed, MetPlace will be good for 14,000+. That continues.

Phase or project two, PenPlace, is paused, not cancelled. Might be cancelled later, but if it is I'll be moderately outraged then--not now "just in case".
