There is an effort underfoot to ban books in Dixon IL. An outside group has come in to protest the inclusion of books that discuss LGBT issues in books for young adults. Some of these books have been in the library for years.

We attend every library board meeting to show our support.

Alamogordo who was going to hold a book burning of that "satanic" filth, and wanted everyone to contribute their books. I happened to hear about this, and decided to have fun. I called the idiot, and told him that, on behalf of the author, I wanted to thank him. Puzzled response. I pointed out that, in order to have books to burn, they were actually going to have to purchase them first, unless he was planning on stealing them. And stealing is a sin, yes? Therefore, he was merely increasing Jo's sales.

A Time to Kill is often challenged and banned due to its depictions of violence, graphic rape, and racism. The Client, The Firm, and The Pelican Brief, also written by John Grisham all banned.

now several banned books that were available to me to read when I was in high school in the seventies. It would be interesting to come up with a list of some of these now banned books and ask those who want to ban them if they read them when they were in grades 6-12. I bet many of them did and their parents probably had no problem with their child reading them.
