Quick Question regarding Marijuana Laws

Does the president have the power to sign an executive order to end the federal ban on Marijuana? or does it have to go through the House/Senate?

1. Yes

He has the executive power to reschedule it to catagory III.

2. He can stop Justice from prosecuting marijuana cases.

I think he can change the status of marijuana on the drug list.

But I'm not a lawyer.

3. Barney Frank (D) and Ron Paul (R) introduced legislation last year that would prevent the Feds from

messing with states who legalize marijuana.

It's HR 2592 (2011). It hasn't gotten any traction yet, but it's not "dead." My hope is that the new WA and CO laws will breathe some life into this legislation.

I know this isn't a direct answer to your specific question, but it's a possible answer to the Feds' interference in this matter.

is great to read for me. I'm an avid user of weed, It helps depression and social anxiety immensely for me.
