Even if I despise the person's politics. And believe me I DO in this case. Or at least his wife's and as you say, presumably his too.

I've looked at the details of the case actually apparently some young women were in a booth talking about their tattoos, he blunders by drunk, overhears them, says 'I've got a tat on my dick!'. Logically they were probably like 'whatever' or 'bullshit' dude', and like a drunk idiot he thinks 'I'll show them!'.

One of the young women's deposition said he unzipped, reached into pants, and palmed the head so it was not visible, pulled it sideways and showed the side where the tat was. He didn't totally whip it out. He made no sexual gestures, it was a public place the women weren't unsafe, etc.

The judge gave him ONE day (beyond the 3 days in the drunk tank afterwards) and 2 years probation for lewd public exposure, and it's not like he was the scion of wealthy family, he was a regular dude. Obviously this was considered a very minor incident, not some kind of sex attack.

I think calling the man a pervert and pedophile and sex offender and all the stuff people do here and elsewhere is over the top.

Esp. considering that afterwards, dude marries HS sweetheart, stays with her 17 years so far, they open a restaurant together (obviously I hate the theme of the restaurant), and he supports her becoming a congresswoman. And he's never been arrested for anything like that again, or we'd know.

I just look at the totality and the way this is constantly brought up and think ... WTF does a guy have to do ... can he EVER be forgiven, and have people stop making fun of him and calling him names ... even for something THIS friggin minor, done drunk at 23 yo?

I can't really think of some act that could remotely be categorized as a 'sex crime' ... that is MORE mild than what this dude did. It does not even appear to have been sexual at all. Just the side of a penis of a drunk dude showing off his tat.

I just think it's overly vindictive honestly, even though I hate his wife's politics, and probably would hate his ... I feel like ... let's call them out for THAT.

That is scarcely a reality anywhere today, but especially in the RW and as I already laid out, is not the case in your hypothetical that I am responding to. The reverse of the Boeberts is just that--an a'hole male politico who stands toe to toe with an activist hypocritical and hate-filled monster wife--both raising monster children with AR-15s in their Christmas cards and allowing them to push the most offensive political views dressed as "religious" on their neighbors and everyone else. Taking no responsibility for their own actions, but rather using them against others And when the wife in your example has the nerve to accuse everyone on the Democratic side of the aisle of being pedophiles or trying to sexualize children or convert them to transexuals or expose them to harmful images, texts, or books in school, then yes--her past SHOULD come back to bite her.
