(24,763 posts)mastermind of the Stormy bribery scheme should receive the same sentence as Cohen, if not more.

(18,181 posts)that's, IMO, pretty much a given, whether or not he'll be tried and convicted is another story.

(22,838 posts)Possibly, maybe even probably.
Will he be indicted on the highest charges people want? Very unlikely.

(12,598 posts)(and Clinton's 1998 impeachment) will be a political plus.

(15,909 posts)...come through with at least four possible situations pending.
God knows how long the start of any trial will be delayed and delayed and delayed, how long any trial will be dragged out, and if a conviction is reached, how leisurely the sentencing hearing schedule will be, and how long Trump will remain free while every legally-absurd appeal is made, probably all the way up to the SCOTUS.

(3,832 posts)In order to get a felony conviction (or maybe even a charge), Alvin Bragg will need to connect state misdemeanor business falsification charges to state election law violations. His star witness is a convicted felon (ironically imprisoned for the same crime). THIS matter is in the wrong court.
Trump SHOULD have been indicted for this crime by the DOJ at noon on January 20, 2021 as soon as his "presidential immunity" expired and his department fixers departed.
Bragg has other, more serious criminal charges to pursue following the same evidence in the Leticia James civil suit. He already has gained criminal convictions against The Trump Organization for those serious financial crimes.
In my opinion, Bragg does not have the political guts to follow the evidence to its logical target... Either that, or the Trump Crime Family is making Putin-esque threats.

(7,066 posts)I think there'll be some indictments hanging around his neck sometime soon. What those convictions turn out to be will lead me at that point to guess whether there will be convictions for them after announced.

(9,629 posts)I really want to believe so, and I see some indications it may happen, but I am now cynical. Garland seems VERY reluctant to wade into that pool, despite his protestations.
