She had the child and dropped out of school to take care of the baby. The dad was 18 and didn't deny he was the father. In a few years she got her GED and had another child with the same father. They all lived with my wife for awhile. I did not meet any of them until she was about 20. She got her CNA certification and got a job at a hospital.

Without drawing out the story, today she just turned 53 and has a masters degree in Clinical Nursing, makes around 200K a year and manages two departments at a hospital. She has been married to the father of her two children for over 30 years. That baby she had at 16 owns a Honda motorcycle dealership and her daughter is a cosmetologist.

The point is although it all worked out, life was a struggle and greatly complicated by becoming a mother at such a young age. It took a lot of support from both sides of the family. If not for that support she would likely still be cleaning apartment rentals for landlords, which she did for awhile. And I absolutely guarantee she would not recommend this path to anyone.

If your body is thirsty, you drink. If your body is hungry, you eat. We teach our kids that kind of thing. And we make schedules, so the children learn to wait to satisfy hunger and thirst. But by golly, if we pretend that sex is a sinful crime, instead of a natural urge, and deny children sex education, they will not develop any ability to fight off that urge. Sex will happen and I guarantee that even with education and protection, Nature will win. But why in the hell go into the eternal battle unarmed? At least give the kids a chance.

If adults can plan a romantic dinner and evening that they hope leads to sex, it isn't a reach to be able plan an entire sex life by weighing pros and cons before you ever have a relationship. We will never stop sponateous copulation, but we can try to limit the number of wrecked lives.
