But glad I have no FAUX News-brainwashed relatives to send it to.
but i've decided to lighten up on the political fb posts. come to think of it i should probably check my friend list since i probably lost a few
i just don't think they're going to be able to follow the evidence to its obvious conclusion: they've been lied to. the election was not even close.

(53,214 posts)And they used to be fairly sane and normal. They have been thoroughly brainwashed by FOX and Rush. If I thought it would make a difference, I would send this to them, but I just avoid political discussions with them. Not worth arguing with people who listen to FOX.

(982 posts)Didn't ALL the media and lie and say Romney won those debates, and Paul Ryan won- give me a break!
ALL of the media needs to be held accountable for lying on our public airwaves, blatantly shilling for profit.
It is disgusting and absurd they do not lose their FCC license.

(1,916 posts)I had someone yell at me last night that President Obama was a Muslim, NOT born in the US, and that Romney freely gave his tax returns. All I could do is smile, say "ok" and walk away.
I wonder where they are still hearing this tribble...oh wait...nevermind!

(433 posts)It's going to take a few more defeats before they get around to recognizing they need to change their fundamental assumptions and beliefs, and replace them with objective reality.
They'll either come around........or keep losing.
Boehner is still claiming no tax cuts.
The overwhelming numbers of people want the rich to be taxed at the same rate they were under Clinton.
Time for a rude awakening.

(7,080 posts). . . told me on Monday that Romney was gonna win. THIS was based on his Fox-Only viewing. Was a lifelong Dem but when Obama was elected in '08 he switched to Fox as he is a flaming racist. He REALLY believed that Romney was gonna win! He was lied to so now what channel will he watch? LOL

(603 posts)Ignore them. They are irrelevant and living in the past. We have to continue to move forward. This election as proven that we can progress by leaving them in the dust.

(32,265 posts)than to think that they aren't getting the truth from Fox. There is no way they will admit to being wrong about anything.

(4,423 posts)If the election had gone the other way there would be a few threads on hear about potential vote fraud. It is the denying stage of grief that allows that narrative to bubble up. Largely I believe our voting system is fairly accurate and the point in the election is the candidate should win convincingly i.e. both of President Obama's elections have been way outside any margins of any type of vote fraud.

(5,405 posts)Or they will. That simple. They can win close elections because we don't tamper with voting machines, suppress the vote with voter ID, limited early voting or pathetic voting machine allotments. We can't because they will cheat ANYTIME it is close. Which is why Obama's accomplishments are such a big deal. He got so many new, younger voters as well as minority voters that the numbers were way too great for them to steal both times.
We need to keep that sort of enthusiasm going in 2016.

(1,180 posts)The Fox News (False News) watchers I know are very wounded right now. I've tried for years to find a way to show them the truth, but they have been systematically mind-controlled not just by Fox. There's a machine at work which they cannot see even if you offer proof. George Lakoff describes it very well, and the Obama campaigns appear to have benefited greatly from his work.
If you love any of these people as I do, let them grieve. Some of them, like any other addicts will come to their senses on their own or not at all. When their eyes and ears open just a little is the moment I will offer help.

(5,023 posts)I don't have time to do research, but I'm interested because this seems to be the foundation of their thought.
They want to be lied to, apparently, so why is that?
I can imagine situations when I might prefer a lie over the truth. I'd prefer people say I look good even if I don't. I'd prefer people say I'm smart even if I'm not.
Why do they lack self-interest?
Lots of these people are retired collecting considerable benefits from the government themselves, social security and pensions. Why are they asking for people who to stop caring about them? Is it their ego?
It don't get it, but I think this stuff is worth investigating.

(1,180 posts)...is to examine the very re-framing of thoughts within the brains of individuals. He gained national notoriety before the '04 election and has published a number of works. The last title I read (via audio book) was: "Who's Freedom". He may have fresher works out now, but that one is still a worthwhile read and was probably studied in depth by top strategists on our side of the aisle. His works include both light reading and rather dense brain science texts.

(4,507 posts)After 2004 I broke the entire electorate into groups of counties by percentage of population that voted for Bush.
I had every US county on a spreadsheet that I matched to official census data.
I compared the percentage of the Bush vote to percentage of a population that had a BA degree or higher.
My chart revealed almost a directly inverse result - from the pool of counties with the highest Bush vote (somewhere in the 18% range had a BA or higher in their populations) to the counties with the lowest (somewhere in the high 28% range, just down from the low 29% range for the counties with the second lowest Bush totals).
It might not be as stark this time, but I'll bet you would find something similar.

But show me any republican who believes in that today. They aren't conservatives. They are either authoritarians or fascists, take your pick. But they aren't conservatives.
