(3,922 posts)Before desantis there was notorious thief and world-class dipshit Rick Scott in the Governor's mansion.
Scott, along with fascist gadfly Jimmy Patronis and bubblehead Pam Bondi used to interview ex-cons that were applying for their voting rights to be restored despite their rights being voted by 65% of Floridians for restoration in 2018.
Patronis, a noted fool, would always ask the unfortunate pleader "what church do you go to?".
Meanwhile, Bondi would twirl her hair and check her phone, and Scott would pick their pockets.
But still, it got worse.

(45,433 posts)nothing to do with Trump era deregulation. It's their celebration of Pride month. You should have seen how much they spent on fabulous decorations

(17,214 posts)the day Phil Donahue's program was on the fever of the American people wanting to go to war with Iraq. Phil
was making the pro-war Bush guests look small. When the program was over my Dad made the comment that
Phil would be lucky to have a job within the week, he knew the pressure the Bush administration would be
putting on MSNBC.
Thanks for the toons JHB.

(21,563 posts)I remember all the "support the troops" bumper stickers and magnets. I wanted to buy one that said "support the troops: demand their return home."
But no such thing exists lol
even when it was obvious we were lied into a war, the attitude seemed to be it didn't matter because you couldn't let the troops think they were dying for nothing/a lie. As if somehow that makes things BETTER for them?????? "Sure, i just got blow to pieces by an IED, but at least the people back home helped me maintain the delusion it wasn't for nothing!" I think any of those troops killed would rather have come home and seen the people that got their brothers and sisters killed sent to prison.

I was breakfasting in a cafe, and likely talking too loud.
I was vociferously voicing my objections to my mates about the ongoing drumbeat of arguments (suspected lies) pushing us towards war
Another table the diners all got up to leave, except one older man turned from their party and came over to my table; glaring daggers at me, he screamed through clinched teeth:
I WAS IN VIETNAM!!!
and stalked off.
Leaving a suddenly silent restaurant behind.
